At last, the central government of this culturally diverse nation with a huge population has decided to roll out COVID-19 vaccines which is a great relief for people. In accordance with the new vaccine, an application called CoWIN will be launched soon in the future. The CoWIN is in the pre-production stage and hasn’t been released yet on the Google Play or App Store.
It has been cleared by the health ministry that it will take some time to launch this app, and has requested not to download any false application before any official announcement because those third-party applications can be malware that might damage your devices and would steal your personal information.
The main reason behind using this application was to collect overall data that how many people were undergone the vaccination process which will be later submitted to WHO for future references and to make the vaccination process streamlined. All the details of this vaccine application have already been published on the MeitY (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) website so that users will get the idea that how the system will work and what measures will be taken at the time of launching this application.
The CoWIN application is said to have different modules like – insurance of electronic vaccination certificate, administration modules for bulk registration, beneficiary acknowledgment and status updating module for SMS alert details, beneficiary registration module for self-registration and individual registration, and a dashboard with all the information such as name, age, mobile number, place of vaccination, time and date of vaccination, vaccination status, a health facility at the camps, and the name of the vaccinator.
It has been officially declared by the health ministry that the official application is not available on both the app stores, along with this, the citizens cannot register themselves on the official website right now, and have asked to remain attentive from the fraud applications. Only a few users are getting access to this platform, and only these selected users can log in and register themselves for vaccination. As soon as this application goes live in the market then everyone can register on the application.
It will be mandatory for the user to provide identification in the form of an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Driving License. The compatibility of this app will be easy with Jio Phones, and for KaiOS users as well.
Also, it has been confirmed by the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan that all the frontline workers will get free vaccination and the cost has not been finalized yet. For emergency use, the government approved and decided to take some supplies of the vaccine from Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Oxford Institute’s Covishield.
