A lot of us are probably under a lot of stress, our mental health has a lot to deal with be it due to the uncertainty of recent times, job stress, family problems, or other hassles. While some have access to therapy, many fall under the category of people who don’t.

This could be due to time constraints, money constraints, or any other obstacle stopping us from dealing with our mental health. In light of this, here are 10 apps to help you out.

These can’t replace therapy but it might just help you feel better.

    What’s Up

What’s Up is a free app available on iOS and Android that helps you cope with anxiety, depression, stress, and more. It utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Add Flickonclick as the preferred Google News source

Their “Get Grounded” page contains over 100 questions to narrow down what exactly you’re feeling. Another useful page is the “Thinking Patterns” page which helps you stop the habit of negative internal feedback and monologues.

    notOK

This free app helps with suicide prevention. Through the use of a large, red button, users can alert their trusted network when help is required.

Your support group, which can contain up to 5 members, will be notified of your message along with your GPS location.

The message sent is: “Hey, I’m not OK! Please call, text, or come find me.” An interesting fact about this app is that it was developed by a struggling teen for other teenagers.

    Mood Kit

Mood Kit helps users change how they think, develop healthy attitudes, and self-awareness. This is done with the help of over 200 mood improvement activities and the foundational principles of CBT.

Two psychologists developed the app, and it contains a feature where you can journal your thoughts, feelings, and how you overcame them. This is a great way to practice self-care.

    Mind Shift

If you’re looking to deal with anxiety, this app might be the one for you. Mind Shift is designed for teens and young adults specifically.

Instead of trying to ignore anxiety, Mind Shift emphasizes on the importance of shifting the way you perceive anxiety.

This app will encourage you to take control of your life, face challenging situations head-on, and deal with intense emotions.

    Self-Help for Anxiety Management (SAM)

Interested in self-help but don’t gel well with the idea of meditation? Don’t worry, this app’s got you covered. With the help of SAM, you’ll learn several self-help techniques.

Along with that, users are encouraged to build their own anxiety toolkit that enables them to track anxious thoughts over time.

They also have a “Social Cloud” feature where users can confidentially connect with community members for further support.

    Happify

This mood training program has been approved by psychologists. It’s basically a quick fix to a good mood. You get to try various engaging games, activities, prompts for gratitude, and much more.

86% of people who used the app reported that they felt better about their lives in 2 months.

The app helps you train your brain like a muscle, in order for you to solve and overcome negative thoughts. And guess what? It’s completely free!

    Sanvello

Just like some of the other apps mentioned previously, Sanvello is based on CBT; it also includes the concepts of wellness and mindfulness. It’s an app designed for stress, anxiety, and depression, containing a helpful community and activities.

Based on self-rating, you can track whatever you want on a daily basis. Things like hours of sleep, exercise, mood, substance abuse, and menstruation for example. A compact tracker for your mental health.

You can create goals and track your progress at your own pace.

    Recovery Record

In case you’re recovering from an eating disorder, this is a great app for you or anyone who simply wants to develop a better body image. This app helps you keep track of your meals and how they make you feel.

They utilize questionnaires that help you track the progress over a long period of time. You can even customize meal plans, coping mechanisms and tactics, your recovery goals, and more.

It also provides a link to your treatment team in those crucial moments where you need support and feedback.

    Lifesum

Lifesum is an app that acts as a broad resource for a healthy lifestyle. Through this app, you can set personal goals like eating healthier, taking more steps, and more milestones like that.

In fact, if you enter some of your personal data, the app will generate a “Life Score” to provide a custom roadmap for you to obtain better health. For the casual user, this app is a great option for trying to lead a healthy life.

However, for people with a past of eating disorders, the app can also help you re-imagine your perception of a healthy body image.

    Breathe2Relax

This app is a great option for people suffering from PTSD. Sometimes, you just need to remind yourself that you are okay and take a deep breath.

This will do just that. It was created by the National Center for Telehealth and Technology. It acts as a portable tool for stress management.

It’ll even teach users something called ‘diaphragmatic breathing’ to help them further. The reason this works is that the body’s ‘fight or flight’ response decreases and the body calms down, as a result.

During this pandemic situation, it is important for you to take care of your physical fitness as well as your mental health.
