    Road trips are one of the best ways of exploring a place with friends, family or even solo. When crossing borders of one country and going into another, the experience is extremely thrilling.

    Thankfully, India has the upper hand in this. As we share borders with many countries, it makes crossing borders that much more convenient. Of course, this ordeal does come with its own challenges and difficulties.



    However, these trip or road trips will make everything worth it. Here is a list of 7 road trips that will leave you in awe:

    Road Trips

     

    Nepal

    Nepal is a country with extremely scenic views. In terms of travel, Nepal is extremely convenient due to hassle-free immigration and short distance. The only entry requirement that is needed is an Indian driver’s license. In fact, any Indian holding a ration card, Aadhar Card, or passport can work or live in Nepal. This has to be issued in Kathmandu by the Indian Embassy, however. No visa is required, making this an ideal destination.

    Bangladesh

    There are a bunch of ways that you can use to explore this country. The safest way would be the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Also, you can take the Kolkata-Agartala route. Once you reach Bangladesh, you cannot miss out on the Sundarbans. The capital city, Dhaka, is a sight to behold as well. The entry requirements for this are Indian international driving permit, appropriate vehicle documents and a carnet. People who have an Indian passport can avail visa from the Embassy there.

    Bhutan

    Known as the happiest country in the world, it undoubtedly attracts several tourists. To reach this country, you need to drive to Thimphu. From New Delhi, you have to cross Uttar Pradesh and reach Guwahati. From here, you can enter Phuntsholing, a Bhutanese village. Indian citizens do not need a visa or passport to enter Thimpu in Bhutan.

    Myanmar

    It’s a must-visit spot as it’s known as the Land of Gold. For this trip, you will have to drive from New Delhi to Bihar. From there, you will have to drive through North-eastern states such as Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. Once you reach there, you can cross the Moreh Border checkpoint to enter Myanmar. For Myanmar, Indian travellers will need a stamped visa from the Myanmar Embassy. Some other requirements include MMT permit, temporary custom import permit, and a special overland permit.

    Sri Lanka

    To reach Sri Lanka, you will have to cross six states if you’re driving from New Delhi. This is because you have to reach Tamil Nadu in order to opt for a ferry. This way, you can transport your vehicle from the port in Tuticorin to the Sri Lankan port in Colombo. Some entry requirements include carnet, motor, and an international driving license. For a 30-day stay, you can avail a 30-day e-visa.

    Malaysia

    Malaysia has everything that a traveller could want. To reach here, however, you will need to drive through two other countries – Thailand and Myanmar. After checking the respective requirements, you will need some other things to enter Malaysia. These are international driving license, carnet and a visa. Visas can be obtained online or at the Malaysian Embassy.

    Thailand 

    Thailand remains fantastic all year long. To reach Thailand, you will have to travel across the North-eastern states. Once you do, you will have to drive through Myanmar in order to reach the destination. Once you cross Moreh, you can reach Bangkok from Tak. The entry requirements are the same ones needed for approval in Myanmar as well. You can easily drive around with your international driver’s license.
