Now You Can Get a Job Even Without Clearing the Civil Services Interview! What is This New UPSC Plan?

    UPSC Pratibha Setu

Every year, lakhs of candidates appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) with the dream of becoming an IAS or IPS officer. However, only a few manage to reach the final round, and among them, only a select few get recommended in the final merit list. Those who reach the interview stage but don’t make it to the final list either attempt the exam again or look for job opportunities elsewhere.

Now, UPSC has made the job hunt easier for such candidates.

UPSC’s New Plan for Non-Selected Candidates

UPSC has introduced a scheme under which candidates who reach the interview stage but don’t clear the final selection can still get job opportunities. Though they may not be selected through the UPSC exam, the commission has come up with a solution to help them get jobs. This initiative is called ‘Pratibha Setu’.

Through this scheme, private and government institutions will be able to directly connect with such candidates and utilise their talent by offering job opportunities.

    What is Pratibha Setu?

This is not the first time UPSC has tried to connect capable candidates with organisations. Earlier, it had a “Public Disclosure Scheme” where details of good candidates were shared with potential employers. Now, these candidate details will be made available on the Pratibha Setu website.

Government ministries, autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and private companies can access these details. However, organisations must first register and obtain a Corporate Identification Number (CIN).

How Can Companies Access Candidate Details on Pratibha Setu?

    Step-by-step Process:

    1. Search for “upsconline.gov.in Pratibha Setu” on Google.
    2. Open the official Pratibha Setu portal.
    3. Read the complete details available.
    4. Click on the “Login” button.
    5. Choose the “Registration” option.
    6. Select the “Private Organisation” category.
    7. Generate a CIN number through the MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs) portal.
    8. For this, the company must already have an MCA-registered ID.
    9. After getting the CIN from the MCA portal, enter it on the UPSC Pratibha Setu website.
    10. Enter the captcha code and submit the form.
    11. Once registered, companies will get access to candidate profiles on the portal.

    What Information Will Be Shared?

Under this scheme, candidate biodata will be shared, including academic qualifications and contact details. UPSC has said that the portal will provide a databank of more than 10,000 candidates. Millions of students apply for various UPSC recruitment exams, and now many of their profiles will be accessible to employers.

    Which Exams Are Covered?

This scheme was first launched on 20 August 2018, with the details of successful candidates from the Combined Medical Services Exam 2017. Now it has been renamed as ‘UPSC Pratibha Setu’.

Candidates from the following exams (non-recommended ones) are included:

    • Civil Services Exam (CSE)
    • Indian Forest Service (IFS)
    • Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)
    • Engineering Services Examination (ESE)
    • Combined Geo-Scientist Exam
    • Combined Defence Services (CDS)
    • Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service (IES/ISS)
    • Combined Medical Services (CMS)

This is a promising move by UPSC to help capable candidates who couldn’t make the final cut, connect with meaningful employment opportunities.
