Apple has finally done it. After years of speculation, the company has launched its first ever foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, alongside two new additions to its Pro lineup, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. All three models are now official, with India pricing, storage options and availability details confirmed.
The iPhone Duo: Apple’s First Fold
The iPhone Duo opens up to a 7.6 inch inner display, the largest screen Apple has ever put on an iPhone, and folds down to a 5.4 inch outer Super Retina XDR screen. Apple says that outer display offers about 90 percent of the screen area you’d get on the iPhone 18 Pro, and both displays share the same aspect ratio, along with ProMotion, Always-On support and up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The inner display also gets a nano texture finish to cut down on glare, with an under display FaceTime camera tucked in.
On the design side, the Duo is built from grade 5 titanium with a mirror polished finish, Ceramic Shield on the back and the newer, tougher Ceramic Shield 2 on the front. It carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and the hinge itself is a fairly serious piece of engineering, built with over 100 components and reinforced with support ribs and ceramic fibre inserts.

For cameras, you’re looking at a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide, shared with the iPhone 18 Pro, plus a Center Stage front camera. There are a few fold specific features too, including Smart Take, Duo Preview, Kid Cue and Duo FaceTime, along with 4K/120fps Dolby Vision video recording.
Software wise, it runs iOS 27, redesigned specifically for the foldable form factor, with side mounted controls, dual Home Screen pages, Split View multitasking and an upgraded StandBy mode. If you want the full picture on what iOS 27 actually brings across Apple’s lineup, this breakdown of the iOS 27 release date and eligible iPhones is worth a look.
Under the hood, the Duo runs on Apple’s 2nm A20 Pro chip with a vapour chamber cooling system, and its dual batteries can manage up to 31 hours of video on the inner display, 44 hours on the outer display, or 24 hours of mixed use. It’s eSIM only worldwide, and Apple says over 500 carriers already support eSIM, including Airtel, Jio and Vi in India.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max come in black, silver, glacier and burgundy finishes, and the big camera upgrade here is a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, Apple’s first time offering manual aperture control on an iPhone. The six blade system gives you four aperture settings and can adjust automatically based on lighting and depth of field. You also get upgraded Photographic Styles, Pro controls for shutter speed and white balance, and a histogram for checking exposure on the fly.
Both phones run on the same 2nm A20 Pro chip as the Duo, with Apple claiming the GPU is up to 40 percent faster than the A19 Pro and the Neural Engine delivering twice the AI processing power. Should You Upgrade
If you’ve been waiting for Apple to finally enter the foldable space, the Duo is a genuinely significant launch, even with its steep price tag. For anyone more interested in camera upgrades and raw performance without the fold, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max bring meaningful improvements too, particularly around the new variable aperture camera system. Either way, this is one of Apple’s more ambitious launches in recent years, and the India pricing puts all three squarely in premium territory.
