Seeing the increase in the number of cases, the UP Government has decided to extend the lockdown. The extension has been announced from 10 p.m. on 10 July 2020 to 5 a.m. on 13 July 2020. The entire commercial, market activities are prohibited alongside offices to remain shut down during the period. But not to worry, all the services pertaining to trains and essential activities shall remain operational.
On Thursday itself, having 1200 new COVID-19 cases, there were 17 reported deaths. It took up the number in the state to 32,362. Moreover, the state has managed to control the fast spread of the virus despite having a huge population. This has been appraised by PM Narendra Modi also.
What’s open in this lockdown extension in UP?
- All medical and health service will open as usual
- Petrol Pumps and dhaba’s on the highway will remained open
- No restriction on movement of those working in essential services,sanitation and the door-step delivery staff.
- Both domestic and international air travels will be continued as before.
- Goods carrier vehicles would also not be restricted.
- Industrial units, which work continuously, would remain open in rural areas.
- All big construction works of expressways, bridges, roads and private projects would also continue.
What’s Closed in this lockdown extension in UP
- All non essential offices and markets will remain closed in whole state.
- Bus services, other than those carrying travellers to railway stations, would be closed during this period.
- Apart from industrial units, all factories working in urban areas would remain closed.
Statement by the Union Health Ministry
On Thursday, the Union Health Ministry also appreciated India in preventing spread of the virus. Since, despite having the largest population in the world, India’s cases in terms of per million population in the nation remain the lowest globally. In the midst of a huge stream in COVID cases, the Union Health Ministry on Thursday said that India has not however come to the large scale community transmission stage.
