Rohit Sharma Is Stepping Into TV, Here’s What Family Full House Is About

India's World Cup-winning captain makes his entertainment debut this September

Family Full House with Rohit Sharma

Cricket fans are used to watching Rohit Sharma dominate a run chase, but this weekend, they’ll get to see him in a completely different setting. Family Full House with Rohit Sharma premieres September 19, 2026, marking his first-ever step into entertainment television, and going by the buzz already surrounding it, this launch has been building momentum for weeks.

What Is Family Full House About?

At its core, Family Full House is a family game show, bringing together families to compete through a mix of instinct, quick thinking, and teamwork. The format is designed to be just as engaging for people watching from home as it is for the families actually competing in the studio, leaning heavily into humour, participation, and the kind of play-along energy that tends to work well for weekend prime time slots.

The show airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 PM on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV, giving it a consistent weekend slot right from launch.

    Why Advertisers Are Already Excited

What’s particularly interesting here is how much traction the show has picked up before even airing a single episode. Family Full House has already attracted a genuinely wide range of advertisers, and the sponsor lineup spans several major categories. Skoda, PhonePe and Google Search AI Mode have signed on as Co-Presenting Sponsors, while Avaada, UltraTech Cement and Fortune Refined Soyabean Oil are on board as Co-Powered by Sponsors. Supersox and the BHIM Payments App round things out as Associate Sponsors.

According to Akshay Agrawal, Head of Linear Ad Sales at Sony Pictures Networks India, the show has struck a strong chord with advertisers even ahead of its premiere, largely because it combines three things brands consistently value: a personality with genuine nationwide appeal, the pull of family co-viewing, and a format that actively invites audience participation rather than just passive watching. He also pointed out that this combination allows Sony to build customised, content-led brand integrations rather than relying on standard advertising visibility alone.

Beyond the sponsor interest, early digital buzz has also been strong, with glimpses of Rohit Sharma in this new avatar reportedly generating millions of impressions and engagements across social media well before the actual premiere.

Rohit Sharma’s Journey to This Moment

Rohit has already stepped away from Test and T20 cricket, though he remains active in ODIs. There’s been plenty of speculation around whether he’ll be part of the 2027 World Cup squad too, especially after his recent tour to England, where many assumed the series decider might be his final international appearance. Instead, Rohit answered that speculation the way he usually does, with the bat, scoring 138 in a 388-run chase against England and closing out the ODI series with 175 runs across three matches at an average of 58.33.

That kind of form makes his pivot into television feel even more notable. Rather than easing into retirement quietly, Rohit is stepping into an entirely new arena while still very much active on the field.

Part of a Bigger Festive Lineup

Family Full House is just one piece of Sony Pictures Networks India’s larger festive season slate, which also includes the newest season of Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, the Indian Game Show hosted by Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa, Ajay Devgn’s true-crime series Crime Patrol 2026, and Scam 2010, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta.

If you’re looking for something to watch while the festive lineup rolls out, comedy fans have plenty to catch up on too. India’s Got Latent Season 2 Episode 7, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhuvan Bam, Mukesh Chhabra and Kaustubh Agarwal, is worth checking out in the meantime.

Family Full House with Rohit Sharma premieres September 19, 2026, on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
