NH-48 Closed for Two Months! Find Out the Best Alternate Routes for Travelling Between Delhi and Gurugram!

Travellers commuting between Delhi and Gurugram are accustomed to dealing with traffic daily. However, when it rains, the traffic congestion can last for hours. Now, travelers are facing even more challenges. A significant portion of the service lane road near Dwarka Link Road on National Highway (NH-48) has collapsed, leading to a complete halt of traffic on this route.

Currently, travellers cannot transit between the Dwarka Link Road junction and the Mahipalpur petrol pump. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has begun repair work on the road. In response, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory detailing alternative routes that travelers can take to make their journeys easier.

    Affected Routes

The NHAI has started repair work immediately following the landslide to address safety concerns. The closure of the service road will impact traffic between Gurugram and Mahipalpur, affecting major areas such as Vasant Kunj, Indira Gandhi International Airport, and Dhaula Kuan.

    Alternative Routes for Travellers

Travellers can consider the following alternate routes:

    • Maharoli-Gurugram Road via the Aya Nagar border.
    • Old Gurugram Road through Kapashera-Samalka Road.
    • Gurugram-Dwarka Expressway via Yasho Bhumi, Dwarka Sector 23 Crossing, Janki Chowk, Dwarka Sector 8/9 Crossing, T Point Sector 7, Ganapati Chowk, and the Sector 6/7 Crossing to Sector 1 Crossing.
    • Palam Flyover route for Dhaula Kuan.
    • Dabri-Gurugram Road through Dwarka Flyover, Dwarka Road, Station Road, and Parade Road.
    • Gurugram-Dwarka Expressway via Yasho Bhumi, Mahipalpur, to Dhaula Kuan.

    Consider Using the Metro

The Delhi Traffic Police has advised travellers to use the metro for hassle-free travel. The advisory suggests that passengers can take the metro to reach IGI Airport or New Delhi Railway Station. Travelers are encouraged to utilize the Airport Express Line from Dwarka Sector-21 station for metro services.

The advisory states that taking the metro will help avoid delays, provided that travellers plan and manage their time effectively, especially those heading to offices, airports, hospitals, or railway stations.

    Two-Month Road Closure

The service road on National Highway 48 in Delhi will be closed for repairs, and travellers will not find immediate relief. They will need to wait for at least two months for the road to reopen.

It is well known that the highway made travel easier, but its closure will cause inconvenience for commuters. However, authorities advise residents to consider alternative routes and keep updated on the latest information to plan their travel effectively.

Why Is There So Much Traffic in Gurugram?

Gurugram is home to many major national and international company offices, attracting a large number of commuters from Delhi and surrounding areas. Additionally, the increasing number of vehicles on the transportation network and heavy road usage contribute to persistent traffic problems in the area.
