House of the Dragon has finally premiered on Disney+ Hotstar at 6:30 AM on 22nd August 2022. The show is a delight for Game of Thrones fans who were waiting for something adventurous and fantastical to fill the void after their favourite show said goodbye forever in 2019. House of the Dragon is an HBO original, just like Game of Thrones. The serial drama is expected to be as big a bit as Game of Thrones. Here we have covered a few things that you should know before embarking on a journey to binge-watch House of the Dragon.

10 Important things to know about House of the Dragon:

    1- It’s a Prequel

For those who are uninitiated, let us inform you that House of the Dragon does serve as the sequel to Game of Thrones, even though it’s released after the GoT by HBO. The series serves as the prequel to the story of GoT, which we have loved and enjoyed for almost 9 years.

2- Based on the Novel Fire and Blood

The show, which is making a lot of noise and hype, is based on a novel similar to Game of Thrones. House of the Dragon is adapted from the novel Fire and Blood by George R. R. Martin. Fire and Blood is a prequel to the novel A Song of Ice and Fire, on which GoT is based.

3- Set 200 Years Before the Events of GOT

The show streaming right now on Disney+ Hotstar follows the House of Targaryen and their battle of succession, which is also known as the Dance of the Dragons. It’s set 200 years before the events which are showcased in GoT start to take place. HOTD will introduce 17 new dragons.

    4- Different creators than GoT

GoT was created by the duo of David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. However, the pair has not returned for HOTD. The prequel to GoT is created by Ryan Condal and the novelist George R. R. Martin.

5- Music by Grammy Nominated Ramin Djawadi

The music composer for the background scores is Ramin Djawadi, who has been nominated thrice for Grammy. He also served as the composer for GoT as well. Ramin has worked on famous shows like Prison Break, Person of Interest and Jack Ryan.

    6- Production Locations

HOTD is shot in four locations, namely Portugal, England, Spain and California. You can expect the show to be filled with scenic views that will take your breath away.

    7- Cast

House of the Dragon has a long list of cast members. The show features Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, and Sonoya Mizuno.

    8- Series Length

    Same Westeros. More dragons.

    9- Budget

House of the Dragon is made on a huge budget of about $20 million per episode, which is much higher than Game of Thrones, which was made at a budget of $15 million at most per episode.

    10- Cinematography

Fabian Wagner, a German cinematographer, will be responsible for all the camerawork in House of the Dragon. He worked as the cinematographer for one of the highest GoT episodes, Battle of the Bastards.
