Reduce Joint Pain in Winters By Adding These Simple Things

We all love the winter season as it comes with so many festivities, food, family time and joy but one thing that is uncalled is joint pains especially for the aged ones. Movement gets hurdled due to cozy quilt feels and our joints get frozen due to falling temperature.

So, here’s a list of things you can do to keep your joint pains at bay during the winters and have the most of the season filled with comfort and joy.

    1. Keep your weight in check

One of the key reasons that our joints hurt is gaining up that extra kilos and putting pressure on our knee joints, because winters are all about hogging on extra sugar meals.Spending hours snuggled indoors is enjoyable, but your joints may pay the price. Inactivity can lead to weight gain, which puts added stress on already painful joints, like the knees. The saying ‘no pain, no gain’ is actually reversed for joint pain sufferers. It’s ‘no gain, no pain,’ or at least less of it. Even a weight gain of as little as five pounds can impact the degree of discomfort and stress on the joints.ALSO READ: Cardio Or Weight Training: Which One Is Better For Weight Loss Program?

    2. Keep Moving

We know how much you love your blankets in winters but to give relief to your joint pain you need to ditch that blanket and keep yourself moving in order to remain active throughout the winter months because it promotes better joint function and mobility. Try a few stretching movements, walking indoors or outdoors really help.If you prefer to exercise indoors, try the treadmill or exercise bike. Doing laps in a warm pool comforts your joints, keeps you moving and feels soothing too.

    3. Keep Warm

Frigid air can be quite a shock to the body, especially your joints. Whether you’re going for a walk or simply running errands, it is important to dress in layers. Consider wearing thermal underwear and extra socks. Protect your knees by wearing tights or leggings, and your wrist joints and hands with insulated gloves. Don’t forget supportive shoes or boots with good tread to protect against falls. It takes extra effort to layer on those layers, but your joints and surrounding ligaments and muscles will thank you.ALSO READ: These 7 Fruits Will Help You Boost Immunity This Winter Season
