The Indian government on Wednesday banned one of the most popular apps PUBG along with other 118 Mobile Apps. After banning 59 apps earlier this year 118 apps banned again. The apps were banned citing concerns of data security after fresh tensions between India and China in the border area in eastern Ladakh.
In a statement, the government said it blocked 118 mobile apps that are “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defence of India, Security of State and Public Order”. The government said it had invoked powers under Section 69A of the IT Act, read with relevant provisions of the IT (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009, to ban these apps. It said the decision was taken in the view of the emergent nature of threats.

Government blocks 118 mobile apps which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defence of India, Security of State and Public Order: Govt of India
This move will safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security, and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace, the ministry said further.
