Motorola is getting ready for its next flagship, the Motorola Signature 27. The company showed it at the Snapdragon Summit 2026 in September and confirmed it will use a Qualcomm chip, but most other details come from leaks. The current Motorola Signature launched back in January 2026, so many buyers are now wondering whether to wait. Here is how the two phones compare.
Display
The Motorola Signature has a 6.8 inch AMOLED screen with a 165 Hz refresh rate. It supports Dolby Vision, and Motorola claims it can reach 6,200 nits of peak brightness in bright light.
The Signature 27 is also said to have a 6.8 inch screen, but this time it is a tandem OLED panel. Rumours about the refresh rate are mixed. Some say it will drop to 120 Hz, while other reports say it will stay at 165 Hz. Outdoor brightness is tipped to reach 12,000 nits, which would be a big jump. Treat that number with care until Motorola confirms it.
Performance
The current Signature runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip built on 3nm technology. You can pick 12GB or 16GB of RAM and storage from 256GB up to 1TB.
For the Signature 27, Motorola has confirmed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, along with a new 3D vapour chamber to help with cooling. Leaks say it may offer up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, which would match the current phone in those areas.
Battery
The Signature has a 5,200 mAh silicon carbon battery with 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. That is solid, but it is not huge by today’s standards.
The Signature 27 could bring a clear upgrade. Leaks point to a 6,000 mAh battery, and some reports even say 7,000 mAh. Charging speeds are rumoured to stay the same, at 90W wired and 50W wireless. Big batteries are becoming common, and even mid-range phones are getting them. A leak about the Motorola Edge 70 Neo also points to a 7,000 mAh cell and a 144 Hz screen at around INR 40,000.
Camera
The current Signature has a triple camera setup at the back. It includes a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. The front camera is also 50MP.
The Signature 27 may move to a quad-camera setup. The leaks list a 50MP main camera, a 200MP telephoto sensor, and a 50MP ultrawide lens, plus a 50MP selfie camera. The 200MP telephoto could mean much better zoom, but we do not know the details yet.
Price
The Motorola Signature started at Rs 59,999 in India. The Signature 27 is expected to cost close to Rs 1 lakh, which would be a big jump. If that is true, the new phone will aim at buyers who want top-end hardware and are willing to pay for it.
Should you wait?
It depends on what you need. If you want the best battery, the brightest screen, and the newest chip, waiting for the Signature 27 makes sense. If you care more about value, the current Signature at Rs 59,999 looks like the safer choice, especially since the new phone is expected to cost nearly Rs 40,000 more.
Remember that most of these specs are rumours, so Motorola’s final announcement could change things.
If a flagship feels too expensive, there are cheaper ways to upgrade. Our comparison of Redmi 17 and Redmi 17C looks at whether paying Rs 3,000 more is really worth it.
