Aadhaar card Updates- Aadhaar Card is one of the most crucial documents for all Indian citizens. This 3.3 ×2.1 inch laminated paper serves numerous chores such as linking bank accounts, age, and address proof, obtaining subsidies, KYC verification, IT Returns, and support online and offline important financial transactions.

While having it can make you land in a safe spot, losing your Aadhaar card can be a bit of a problem to deal with. To help in such a case, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has provided the Aadhaar holders a simple and less complicated option to retrieve back your Aadhaar card.

To assess you with your lost Aadhaar card, any cardholder, firstly, are required to lodge a lost Aadhaar document FIR in the police. The same is to be done with any important document of yours. Then, check one of the two following steps and execute the option as per your preference.

    1. You have your Aadhaar Number or Enrolment ID or Virtual ID
    2. You have your Aadhaar Registered Mobile Number or Email ID
    3. You don’t have both Aadhaar number and registered mobile number/ email ID
    4. You have your Aadhaar Number or Enrolment ID or Virtual ID

If you have your Aadhaar number, then it is a much simpler way to do it. All you have to do is download the Aadhar Card from the UIDAI Website (https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in) or the mAadhaar app on your smartphone. The service will generate an e-Aadhaar copy which is acceptable for every official usage.

If a user wishes to get a reprinted version of their Aadhar Card, they can simply register for a reprint service from their mAadhar app. The service will cost Rs 50 and will get you a reprinted Aadhaar Card, delivered to your registered residential address within 15 days via speed post service.

How to get back your lost aadhaar card

You have your Aadhaar number but don’t have registered mobile number/ email ID

If the user has their Aadhaar number with them but has lost their registered mobile number or email address, they can still apply for a reprint service from the mAadhaar app with a different number. With this new number, they could receive the OTP and apply for the reprint.

However, in this service, users will not see a preview of the Aadhaar details. They can simply avail of the copy with the postal. Also, to be noted, the new number which you will use will not be registered with Aadhaar details. For changing a registered mobile number, one needs to visit an Aadhaar Kendra.

You don’t have Aadhaar number but have your registered mobile number/ email ID

If a user has lost their Aadhaar Card, they can receive their Aadhaar number on their registered mobile number. For exercising the retrieve, visit

    https://resident.uidai.gov.in/lost-uideid.

Submit the form and click on receive OTP. A code will be sent to your registered mobile number.

After confirming the OTP, the UIDAI will send your Aadhaar number to your registered number. And with it, you can simply avail of the reprint service with the above-mentioned steps.

You don’t have both Aadhaar number and registered mobile number/ email ID

This happens to most who try to Re-Enroll for a new Aadhaar card but gets rejected with an “Already Registered” message. For tackling this issue, the user is required to:

    • Call Aadhaar helpline 1947
    • Confirm your details like Name, Date or Year of Birth, Pin code, etc.
    • Note down the Enrolment ID shared on successful verification of details
    • Use this Enrolment ID to Order a Reprint of your Aadhaar from https://resident.uidai.gov.in/order-reprint.

    Biometric Authentication

In addition to the above steps, Aadhaar cardholders who have lost their Aadhaar document can avail of a fresh copy at any Aadhaar Kendra. They will be required to verify basic information including Name, Date of Birth, and address with a verification document. The service will charge them Rs 30 and will print out a fresh copy of Aadhaar.
