Lysol Disinfectant Spray gets green signal from EPA to Combat COVID-19

EPA i.e. Environmental Protection Agency gave a nod and has approved the Lysol Disinfectant Spray to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

As the tally of COVID-19 case increases day by day this year, there were various sanitizers and disinfectants that made claims that it’ll fight against the virus. But the fact remains only EPA-approved items can legitimately reach the people and market. As per the guidelines of EPA Testing, Lysol Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Max Cover Mist allegedly inactivated the pathogen in just 2 minutes of usage on hard surfaces & non-porous surfaces.

AJIC Review

American Journal of Disease Control (AJIC) has already announced the results of the tests alongside publishing them. Also, the primary comprehensive assessment of Lysol items is done to see do the products have the viability to combat against the coronavirus widespread.

The AJIC also assessed the viability of different items against SARS-CoV-2. As per the reports by AJIC and review team, there is 99.9% viability and effectiveness of these two Lysol products in particular.

Statements by Officials

More than 420 sanitization items are sufficient enough to evacuate these viruses, but these two items are very much viable on the pathogen that’s presently spreading broadly over the globe. In the face of the pandemic, Lysol continues to work with a wide range of scientific and health experts to educate the public on the importance of hygiene,” Rahul Kadyan, executive vice president of Reckitt Benckiser in North America, said.

Presently, the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) explains that “it may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, but we are still learning more about how this virus spreads.”

“The transmission of viral respiratory pathogens such as COVID-19 can be minimized by thorough and complete application of an EPA-registered disinfectant per the manufacturer’s instructions, that is included on EPA’s List N to surfaces as well as good personal hygiene, including hand hygiene, minimize contact with your face, and respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette,” William A. Rutala, Ph.D., MPH, CIC, and David J. Weber, MD, MPH, wrote in an article for Infection Control Today®.

Reckitt Benckiser

Reckitt Benckiser, the creators of Lysol, is dedicated to inculcate the scientific knowledge of hygiene as well as COVID-19. Our investment in research is a part of our relentless pursuit of a cleaner, healthier world,” Ferran Rousaud, Marketing Director for Lysol, said.

Apart from this, Reckitt Benckiser has already begun testing other disinfectant items in case they can viably fight against the novel coronavirus.
