On Monday, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, declared a prohibition on Sudipto Sen’s movie, “The Kerala Story,” which sparked controversy following the release of its trailer. The trailer received criticism for stating that 32,000 girls from Kerala had gone missing and subsequently joined the terrorist organization ISIS. Additionally, other factors contributed to the ban.

Several youth organizations in Kerala held protests against the exhibition of the film, which was released in cinemas across the country on May 5th.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banjeree has instructed the State Chief Secretary to ensure that the movie is no longer shown in theaters within the state. She also stated that the decision was made to preserve peace in West Bengal and prevent any instances of hate crimes or violence.

She also said, “What is The Kashmir files? it is to humiliate one section. What is The Kerala story?… It is a distorted story.” Reacting to the decision, film producer Vipul Shah said, “If that is what she has done, we will take legal action. Whatever is possible under the provisions of law, we will fight.”

These movies tell you about the harsh realities in our socities. A movie like “Kashmir Files” suggests that it is a film that aims to explore and shed light on the conflict and issues surrounding the Kashmir region. It may provide a perspective on the historical, political, and social factors that have contributed to the ongoing conflict in the region. The movie may also aim to raise awareness and prompt discussions about the challenges and complexities of the situation in Kashmir.
