    When will Eid-Al-Fitr observed in India? All you need to know

    Eid-Al-Fitr is often known as Meethi Eid in India due to sweet dishes being made on the day to culminate the fasting of 30 days (Roza). This year the, Eid-Al-Fitr is supposed to begin on Monday, 2 May 2022 and last till Tuesday, 3 May 2022. The festival will officially start when the Muslim religious leaders see the moon in the Indian sky on 2nd May 2022.

    It will mark the end of one month fasting period for the Muslim community. According to the Islamic calendar, Eid-Al-Fitr is celebrated in the first three days of Shawwal month. People from all communities in India celebrate the festival with pomp and show, and gifts and sweets are shared among relatives and friends.

    As you might have guessed already that Meethi Eid is all about breaking the holy Ramazan and indulging in mouth-watering dishes after one complete month to satisfy all the cravings. Many traditional dishes are prepared in the households, involving unique methods from different cultures and cuisines.

    Here are 4 popular dishes prepared on Eid-Al-Fitr:

    1- Mohabbat ka Sharbat

    Mohabbat ka Sharbat is one of the best aromatic pleasing drinks you can ever have in your life. It contains the flavour of rose mixed with Roohafza, milk, ice and watermelon. This drink has gained popularity for its astonishing cooling effects on the body and its incomparable taste.

    2- Biryani

    Biryani is perhaps the most popular dish in India. On the occasion of Meethi Eid, either mutton biryani or chicken biryani is prepared in the households to celebrate the festival. Nothing we can say in the appreciation that has not been said or heard already in the world.

    3- Kimami Sewaiyan

    Kimami sewaiyan is the heart of the dishes prepared at Meethi Eid. One cannot imagine celebrating the festival without having the sweetest sewaiyan loaded with dry fruits, milk and sugar.

    4- Phirni

    Phirni is a classic traditional recipe prepared from the broken rice on the occasion of Meethi Eid. It is similar to the kheer but differs in its variety of composition of ingredients involved. Rose-saffron phirni is one of the most loved dishes cooked on Meethi Eid.
