If you need a gentle, funny show after a long week, Netflix has one coming. North of North Season 2 arrives on Thursday, November 5, 2026, and all eight half-hour episodes will drop together. It is Netflix’s first original series from its Canada office, and it has built a loyal fan base since the first season.
Where did we leave Siaja?
The show follows Siaja, a young Inuk mother living in the small Arctic town of Ice Cove. Anna Lambe plays her. In Season 1, Siaja left her marriage in a very public way, and she has been trying to rebuild her life ever since.
Season 2 picks up with her still making bold choices and even bolder mistakes. The hardest part is proving to her close community and to herself that she is ready to take charge. Lambe has said her character’s life “basically implodes” this time, and no matter how hard Siaja tries, things keep coming apart.
What is the story this season?
Siaja is guided by pilimmaksarniq, an Inuktitut idea about learning skills through watching, practice, and effort. At the community centre, she pushes her boss, Helen, to give her more responsibility. At home, she is trying to learn about a half-sister she never knew she had. After her divorce, she is also open to love, or at least a fun date.
Through all of this, she is raising her daughter, Bun, with help from her mother, Neevee, and her newly found father, Alistair. Early episodes include a water crisis that forces Siaja and Alistair to work together, and a first aid class on the ice that goes badly wrong.
Who is in the cast?
Anna Lambe leads the ensemble. Maika Harper plays Neevee, Braeden Clarke plays Kuuk, Jay Ryan plays Alistair, and Mary Lynn Rajskub plays Helen. Zorga Qaunaq returns as Millie, Bailey Poching as Colin, Nutaaq Simmonds as Elisapee, and Keira Cooper as Bun.
There are new faces too. Canadian comedian Bruce McCulloch joins the cast, along with Sabrina Wan, who plays Haishi.
Who made it?
The series was created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril. It is co-produced with CBC, in partnership with APTN. Zoe Leigh Hopkins, Lisa Jackson, Yael Staav, and Jason Priestley directed the new episodes. Filming took place in Toronto and in Iqaluit, Nunavut, which stands in for Ice Cove.
Why people love it
The first season earned a rare 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, and Lambe was nominated for a Gotham TV Award for her work. The show is warm and funny without making fun of its characters. It also gives viewers a real look at life in an Inuit community in the Arctic.
If you want to catch up before the new season, Season 1 is on Netflix now. It arrived on the platform in April 2025. Lambe also said the renewal news made her heart “explode in the best way possible,” which sums up how fans feel too.
