Redmi, the Xiaomi sub-brand, has launched a fresh laptop lineup in China. The Redmi Book 2027 series includes two models, the Redmi Book 14 2027 and the Redmi Book 16 2027, and both were unveiled on Tuesday. The big highlights are an Intel Core 7 chip, a 72Wh battery, and a sharp 2.8K screen.
Price and sale date
The Redmi Book 14 2027 starts at CNY 6,799, which is roughly Rs 97,000, for the Core 5 320 version. The higher Core 7 350 version costs CNY 7,999, or about Rs 1,14,000.
The Redmi Book 16 2027 starts at CNY 6,999, roughly Rs 1,00,000, for the same Core 5 320 setup. Its top model costs CNY 8,799, about Rs 1,26,000.
Both laptops go on sale in China on November 3 through the Xiaomi online store. The Book 14 comes in four colours, Moonlight Silver, Nebula Purple, Sea Breeze Blue and Space Gray. The Book 16 comes in only two colours: Moonlight Silver and Space Gray. There is no word on an India launch yet, so the rupee prices are only conversions.

Display
The Redmi Book 14 2027 has a 14-inch 2.8K screen with a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution and a 16:10 shape. It goes up to a 120Hz refresh rate and covers 100 percent of the sRGB colour range. It also carries TÜV Rheinland certifications for Low Blue Light and Flicker Free viewing, which helps with long hours in front of the screen.
The Redmi Book 16 2027 has a bigger 16 inch screen with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. It keeps the same shape, certifications, refresh rate, and colour range as the smaller model. Its pixel density is 189 ppi, compared with 243 ppi on the Book 14, and the report mentions up to 400 nits of peak brightness.
Performance
Both laptops run Windows 11. At the top end, you get an Intel Core 7 350 chip, 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. The graphics are integrated Intel graphics, so these are built for study, office work, and daily use instead of heavy gaming.
There is also a cheaper setup with an Intel Core 5 320 chip, the same 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
Battery and charging
Both models have a 72Wh battery with 68W wired fast charging. That is a big battery for laptops in this class, and it should help if you work away from a plug.
Big batteries are showing up across gadgets right now. A leak about the Motorola Edge 70 Neo points to a 7,000 mAh battery and a 144 Hz screen at around INR 40,000, which shows how far phone batteries have come too.
Ports and extras
You get two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5mm audio jack. Wireless support includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. Both laptops also have a backlit keyboard, a 720p webcam, and dual 2W speakers.
The Book 16 weighs about 1.56kg, while the Book 14 weighs about 1.28kg. If you carry your laptop around every day, the lighter Book 14 is the easier pick.
Should Indian buyers wait?
For now, this is a China launch only. Redmi often brings its products to other markets later, but nothing has been confirmed for India. If you are a Redmi fan on a smaller budget, our comparison of Redmi 17 and Redmi 17C asks whether spending Rs 3,000 extra is worth it.
The Redmi Book 14 2027 and Book 16 2027 go on sale in China on November 3.
