DC Studios’ horror film Clayface is having a quiet run at the Indian box office, even as it opened at number one globally. The film collected Rs 43 lakh net in India on Day 5, Tuesday, up from Rs 32 lakh on Monday, taking its India total to Rs 3.42 crore net.
On Day 6, Wednesday, October 28, Clayface is expected to collect around Rs 40 lakh to Rs 45 lakh net in India based on early trends and advance bookings. Globally, the film opened with $43 million (about Rs 360 crore) in its first weekend, more than its reported production budget.

Clayface earned Rs 2.67 crore net in its opening weekend in India. The film grew by about 34% on Tuesday compared to Monday, as Tuesday ticket offers at multiplexes often give weekday numbers a small push.

Nearly 88% of the film’s India business has come from the English version, mainly from multiplexes in big cities. The Hindi dubbed version has struggled to find an audience, with occupancy of just over 6%. Clayface is a body horror film rather than a regular superhero film, which makes it more of a niche watch for Indian audiences.
Clayface Worldwide Box Office
Globally, Clayface has been a much bigger success. The film opened with $24 million in North America and $43 million worldwide in its first weekend, topping the global box office. Its reported production budget is around $40 million, which means it has already earned more than its budget in its opening weekend.
The film also got an A- CinemaScore from audiences in the US, which points to good word of mouth. Trade reports call it Warner Bros.’ first notable box office hit in over a year, after films like Supergirl and Digger underperformed.
What Next for Clayface in India
Clayface is expected to finish its first week in India at around Rs 4.2 crore to Rs 4.3 crore net. With Udta Teer and Jailer 2 taking most screens, the DC film is likely to end its India run in the Rs 5 crore to Rs 6 crore net range. Worldwide, it is on track for a profitable run given its modest budget.
