Here are Things to Keep in Mind

If you are going abroad, then the most important document to go abroad is passport and visa. While going abroad, the passport is checked in India and a stamp is put on the passport on landing abroad. Also, a stamp is put on the passport while returning from abroad. Passport serves as the most important ID abroad.  But what if your passport is lost abroad? Without a passport, you cannot even board a flight, so to return to your country, you have to keep some important things in mind.

Lost Your Passport While Traveling Abroad? Here are Things to Keep in Mind

In this article, we are going to tell you some important steps, which you have to keep in mind if your passport is lost. The most important step as soon as you come to know that your passport has been lost, then go and immediately inform the nearest police station about its loss, so that there is no fraud regarding your identity abroad. After this, also inform the embassy of your country about this, so that your passport can be cancelled. But keep in mind that even if your passport is found, your original passport will still be considered cancelled.

How to return to your country?

Temporary and permanent passports will be provided keeping in mind how much time is left for your return flight. If your return flight is very soon, then the embassy will give you an emergency certificate, which will be valid only for that time.

How to find out about the Indian Embassy or Passport Office abroad?

Whenever you plan any foreign trip, keep a list of emergency addresses and phone numbers with you in advance. For your information, let us tell you, this should include the address of the police station near your hotel and the embassy of your country and the passport service center. Documents you need to get your passport made again on your return to your country

Apart from the proof of current house, proof of date of birth, submit the affidavit of passport loss and a copy of the police complaint of passport loss along with other documents in your nearest passport service center. If you have, then definitely take the photocopies of the first two pages and the last two pages of your lost passport.

Solutions to avoid this in future

Before leaving for the journey, keep two photocopies of your passport ready and then keep them in different places. Although if your passport is lost, it is not legally necessary to provide its photocopy, but you will have to provide information about your old passport, such as when you issued the passport, when the validity of the passport is expiring and from where the passport was issued etc. Therefore, it is very important to make a photocopy of the passport. Along with this, carry two or three photographs, any ID document and any document related to the date of birth.
