As winter sets in, traffic regulations on the 165.5-kilometre-long Yamuna Expressway, connecting Greater Noida to Agra, have been tightened. The traffic police have started cracking down on over-speeding vehicles. On November 7, between 6:30 AM and 2:30 PM, over 150 e-challans were issued for speeding violations.
Currently, the speed limit on the expressway is set at 100 km/h for light vehicles and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles. This measure has been implemented due to reduced visibility during the winter season.
Fines for Speeding
Light vehicles violating the speed limit are fined ₹2,000, while heavy vehicles are fined ₹4,000. To ensure safe travel during winter, the speed limit may be further reduced between December 15 and February 15, with the limit set at 75 km/h for light vehicles and 60 km/h for heavy vehicles.
Road Safety Campaign
November is observed as ‘Road Safety Month’ by the traffic police, with various awareness programs conducted in Noida and Greater Noida. Events were held on Thursday at locations such as Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station, Sector 94, and Kalindi Kunj. A speed-control campaign is also planned for the Noida Expressway, connecting Noida and Greater Noida.
