At last, the news that had been doing the rounds for the past few days has become a reality. One of Indian cricket’s greatest players has retired from Test cricket. Fans will no longer see Virat Kohli in whites playing for Team India.

On Tuesday morning, Kohli made a sudden announcement on social media, revealing his decision. This left millions of fans heartbroken. Earlier, Rohit Sharma had also stepped away from Test cricket. This has come as a double blow for the Indian team.

    What Did Virat Kohli Say?

Kohli wrote on Instagram that it has been 14 years since he first wore the Baggy Blue in Test cricket. “To be honest, I never thought this format would take me on such a journey. It tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I will carry for life.”

“Wearing the white jersey has always felt like a deeply personal experience — the quiet battles, the long days, those little moments no one sees but that stay with you forever,” he said. “Walking away from this format is not easy — but it feels right. I gave it my all, and it gave me back much more than I ever expected.”

Kohli expressed gratitude to all those he shared the field with, saying each person made his journey meaningful. He added that he would always look back on his Test career with a smile.
