PM Internship Scheme 2024: Govt to Launch Internship Scheme Today- Know All About It

The Indian government, in collaboration with leading industries, is set to launch a one-year internship program for individuals aged 21 to 24. This initiative, part of the Prime Minister’s Employment and Skilling package, aims to provide valuable hands-on experience at top companies across the nation.

Announced in the recent Union Budget, the internship program will allow young graduates to gain practical exposure in various fields. A dedicated internship portal will be launched on October 3, enabling candidates to apply directly for positions. Companies will post their internship openings, and applicants can start submitting their applications from October 12.

This initiative is part of a larger effort to provide skill training to over one crore youth in India over the next five years. By participating in this program, young individuals, particularly those with limited access to higher education or specialized training, will have improved prospects for securing employment.

Interns will receive a stipend of Rs 4,500 per month through direct benefit transfer (DBT), while companies will contribute an additional Rs 500 from their corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds. Eligible companies have been selected based on their average CSR spending over the past three years.

The internship program requires participants to spend six months in a real-world work environment, emphasizing practical experience over traditional classroom learning. Companies have the option to collaborate with their supply chain partners or other institutions to enhance the internship experience.
