Is ChatGPT Stealing Your Data Through Ghibli Art? Here's What the AI Chatbot Had to Say

We asked ChatGPT that if it is stealing the data of people, who are turning their images into Ghibli artwork through the AI platform. Here’s what ChatGPT had to say.

No, ChatGPT is not stealing your data through Ghibli images or any other kind of images.

Some people on the internet are asking this question because they are worried about their privacy. They think that when they send a picture, like an image from a Studio Ghibli film, ChatGPT might take their personal information. But this is not true.

    What Really Happens with Images?

When you upload an image to ChatGPT, it only looks at the image to answer your question or to help with your request. For example, if you upload a Ghibli image and ask, “Which movie is this from?”, ChatGPT will try to find the answer based on what it sees in the picture.

The system does not save your image or use it to track you. It does not collect your personal details like your name, address, or phone number.

    What Is Studio Ghibli?

Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation studio. They make famous movies like My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Many people love the beautiful art in these films and enjoy sharing Ghibli pictures online.

    Where Did the Rumour Start?

Some users on social media said that after sharing Ghibli pictures with ChatGPT, they noticed strange things, like personalised ads or app crashes. But this is likely a coincidence or caused by something else. ChatGPT does not use your images to send you ads or affect your phone or computer.

Is Your Data Safe with ChatGPT?

Yes. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has rules to protect your data. They do not share your chats or images with other companies. They also give users the option to turn off chat history.
