COVID Booster Dose: Things That You Should Know

PM Modi has announced a booster dose in December for frontline workers, 60+ aged people with co-morbid cases, and more. The starting date was the 10th of January 2022, which is today.

But similar to many, most people don’t know what or how to get one and if they qualify for it or not. So, here are some of the guidelines that you need to follow before getting a booster shot for yourself.

  • To take the booster dose, you must be fully vaccinated and have a certificate of the same.
  • An individual becomes eligible for the booster shot after 09 months from the second vaccination dose.
  • There are two methods for getting vaccinated by the booster dose; Offline walk to the center and online appointments.
  • The online appointment is only available for eligible health care workers, frontline workers, and co-morbid people above 60 years of age.
  • You can check the official Co-WIN platform to book online appointments. The functionality has been activated since the 08th of January, 2022.
  • An individual will only be eligible for the same vaccination shot previously administered during the first two doses.
  • If you belong to a particular category of individuals and from the senior citizens with co-morbidities case, you’re not required to produce a medical certificate from a doctor.

The booster dose will be administered to an estimated 1.05 crore healthcare and 1.9 crore frontline workers, and 2.75 crore co-morbid people in the 60 plus age.

A total of 150+ crore doses have already been administered throughout India. Due to this, about 63% of citizens have got at least one amount, and about 45% of the individual have taken both the covid shots.
