Aryabhatta Ka Zero Trailer Review and Release Date

The trailer for Aryabhatta Ka Zero is out, and it’s doing something that most inspirational films don’t quite manage — it feels genuinely real. There’s no montage of instant transformation here. What you get instead is emotion, humour, heartbreak and the particular kind of hope that only exists after repeated failure.

Directed by Kamal Chandra, the film stars Himansh Kohli in the lead role, with Ravi Kishan, Sonnalli Seygall, Rajesh Sharma, Gopal Dutt, Neeraj Sood and Shilpa Shinde in a special appearance.

The film hits theatres across India on August 7, 2026.

    Aryabhatta Ka Zero Release Date

    Trailer Review

The trailer runs for just under two minutes and forty seconds, and it hooks you from the first scene.

It opens at a wedding where the bride kisses her former boyfriend in front of the entire gathering. Before things turn awkward, the groom steps in with a smile and jokes that the young man is actually the bride’s brother. It’s an unexpected moment — a little absurd, a little sweet — and it immediately signals the film’s tone. This isn’t going to be a film that takes itself too seriously, even when it’s dealing with something serious.

After that opening, the trailer settles into the story of Brahmagupta Srivastava — known to everyone as Baggu — played by Himansh Kohli. Baggu is a young man who seems to be losing at everything. He can’t find a job. He keeps failing competitive exams. The woman he loves marries someone else. His father can barely hide his disappointment, and society doesn’t make things easier.

But Baggu hasn’t given up on his dream of becoming an IAS officer. And the trailer makes you want to see whether he makes it.

The balance between the emotional and the comedic is one of the trailer’s strengths. It moves between the two without either feeling out of place, which is a good sign for the full film.

An Emotional Story That Feels Relatable

Aryabhatta Ka Zero is, at its core, a story about keeping going when nothing is working. That’s a simple idea, but it’s told here through situations that will feel immediately familiar to a lot of viewers.

Competitive exam pressure, unemployment, family expectations, heartbreak — these aren’t abstract dramatic devices. They’re the specific texture of a lot of young people’s lives in India right now. The film doesn’t appear to be offering an overnight success story or a shortcut to the happy ending. It seems to be saying that the path is hard, and that’s exactly what makes getting through it mean something.

The father-son dynamic glimpsed in the trailer looks like one of the film’s emotional anchors — the kind of relationship where love and disappointment have become so tangled up that they’re hard to separate.

    Dialogues That Leave an Impact

A few lines in the trailer land with real weight, and they do it without reaching for profundity.

“Apni mohabbat kisi aur ki gaadi mein chali jaaye… bura toh lagta hai” — there’s a casualness to how the pain of heartbreak is expressed here that makes it hit harder than a more dramatic delivery would have.

“Dekhna… kahin samman ke chakkar mein apmaan na ho jaaye” speaks to something quieter and more personal — the fear that chasing respect will only produce humiliation. It suggests the film understands that Baggu’s journey is about more than clearing an exam. It’s about finding out who he is when the world keeps telling him he isn’t much.

    Performances Look Promising

Himansh Kohli looks genuinely committed in the lead role. He doesn’t play Baggu as a hero waiting to be discovered — he plays him as someone ordinary who keeps showing up despite everything, and that restraint is the right choice for this kind of story.

Ravi Kishan commands attention in every scene he appears in, even in a trailer where his character’s full role is deliberately kept vague. His presence adds a layer of dramatic weight that the film will need to lean on.

Sonnalli Seygall brings warmth to her scenes, and Shilpa Shinde’s special appearance has already generated genuine curiosity among fans who’ve been following the film’s build-up.

The supporting cast — Rajesh Sharma, Gopal Dutt, Neeraj Sood, Darshan Banik, Alka Amin and Ishlin Prasad — all appear well matched to the film’s emotional register. No one looks out of place in what feels like a grounded, human story.

Why Aryabhatta Ka Zero Looks Worth Watching

The trailer works because it earns its emotional moments rather than announcing them. Baggu’s story doesn’t feel constructed — it feels lived-in. The comedy doesn’t undercut the drama. The romance doesn’t distract from the main journey. And the IAS examination backdrop gives the story a structural tension that most viewers will understand even if they haven’t experienced it directly.

Films about competitive exams and systemic pressure have found real audiences in Hindi cinema over the last decade, and Aryabhatta Ka Zero looks like it understands why those stories connect — because they’re ultimately about self-belief at its most fragile and most necessary.

If the film delivers on what the trailer is promising, it could be one of the more quietly affecting dramas of 2026.

Aryabhatta Ka Zero arrives in theatres on August 7, 2026.
