Apple Alerts iPhone Users in India: Beware of Dangerous Pegasus-Like Spyware Attack!

Tech giant Apple has issued a new warning to iPhone users in at least 98 countries, including India, about a potential mercenary spyware attack similar to ‘Pegasus.’ Apple stated, “You are being targeted by a mercenary spyware attack attempting to remotely compromise the iPhone associated with your Apple ID.”

Apple further noted that this attack is “likely targeting you specifically because of who you are or what you do.” While absolute certainty in detecting such attacks is impossible, Apple expressed high confidence in this warning and urged users to take it seriously.

In October last year, Apple issued similar warnings to users in India. In April this year, the tech giant sent threat notifications to select users in 92 countries, including India, who may have been targeted by spyware like Pegasus from the NSO Group. Since 2021, Apple has sent threat notifications multiple times a year upon detecting these attacks.

Recently, the Indian government also warned Apple users in India about multiple vulnerabilities in their devices.
