If you missed Pati Patni Aur Woh Do during its theatrical run, your wait is nearly over.
The romantic comedy, which released in cinemas on May 15, 2026, is now officially heading to Netflix. The digital premiere is confirmed for July 10, 2026 — exactly eight weeks after its big-screen debut, which has become a fairly standard window for Bollywood releases making the jump to streaming.
What the Film Is About
The story centres on Prajapati Pandey, a forest department officer living a simple, settled life in Prayagraj.
Things are going smoothly until an old friend shows up asking for help with a personal situation. Prajapati agrees, thinking it’s a harmless favour. It isn’t. What starts as a small act of kindness quickly spirals into a chain of misunderstandings that he simply cannot seem to get ahead of.
At the heart of the chaos is Sara Ali Khan’s character Chanchal, who needs Prajapati to pretend to be her partner so she can elope with her actual boyfriend. His intentions are completely innocent. The outcome is anything but. His wife Aparna, played by Wamiqa Gabbi, is a journalist — someone trained to notice when something isn’t adding up. She notices.

Making things worse is Nilofer, played by Rakul Preet Singh, who is both Prajapati’s colleague and Aparna’s friend. As suspicions grow on all sides, Nilofer gets pulled into the chaos too, turning a situation that was already complicated into something that feels completely unsolvable.
The film keeps the tone light and comedic throughout, relying on witty dialogue, relatable family situations, and the kind of everyday misunderstandings that anyone who has ever tried to explain something innocent under the wrong circumstances will immediately recognise.
The Cast Bringing the Comedy to Life
Ayushmann Khurrana leads the film as Prajapati, the well-meaning but perpetually unlucky architect of his own misery. It’s the kind of role Khurrana has made his own over the years — the ordinary man caught in extraordinary circumstances, trying to do the right thing and somehow making everything worse in the process.
Wamiqa Gabbi plays Aparna, his journalist wife, and brings real sharpness to the role. A journalist character who suspects her husband is hiding something is a perfect foil for this kind of story — someone who asks the right questions at exactly the wrong moments.
Sara Ali Khan’s Chanchal is the catalyst for the whole situation, while Rakul Preet Singh’s Nilofer is the character who makes an already messy situation feel genuinely impossible to escape.
Vijay Raaz and Tigmanshu Dhulia appear in supporting roles, both bringing their considerable comic ability to the table. The background score is composed by Ketan Sodha.

Behind the Scenes
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is written and directed by Mudassar Aziz, who also directed the 2019 original Pati Patni Aur Woh. Bhushan Kumar and Renu Ravi Chopra produce the film under the banners of T-Series Films and B R Studios.
The new film works as a spiritual sequel to the 2019 version rather than a direct continuation — fresh characters, a new storyline, but the same tone of lighthearted romantic confusion at its core.
When and Where to Watch
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do starts streaming on Netflix from July 10, 2026.
If you enjoy rom-coms built around snowballing misunderstandings, witty dialogue, and a genuinely likeable lead stumbling through situations entirely of his own making, this one is worth adding to your weekend watchlist.
Mark July 10 in your calendar.
