Evil Dead Burn Cast Salary and Movie Budget — Everything Known About the Horror Film

Sam Raimi found his director after watching a spider horror film from France. The result arrives in cinemas on July 10 — and the financial story behind it is as interesting as the film itself

Evil Dead Burn Cast Salary and Movie Budget — Everything Known About the Horror Film

Horror franchises have a specific financial logic that is different from most other genres. The budgets tend to be modest relative to the box office returns; the cast does not typically include A-list names commanding eight-figure salaries; and the profit margins — when the film connects with audiences — can be extraordinary. Evil Dead Burn, the sixth film in the long-running Evil Dead series, follows that template closely.

The film releases in the United States on July 10, 2026, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures domestically and Sony Pictures Releasing International in most international territories. Directed by Sébastien Vaniček and produced by series creator Sam Raimi and longtime collaborator Rob Tapert, it is a standalone sequel to both Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead Rise (2023). Official budget and salary figures have not been publicly disclosed. What follows is a breakdown of what can be reasonably estimated and why.

Evil Dead Burn Movie Budget: What We Can Estimate

Neither Warner Bros. nor Sony has confirmed a production budget for Evil Dead Burn. That is standard practice for mid-budget horror — studios rarely publicise these figures because it sets box office expectations and affects how the film is perceived commercially before opening weekend.

Looking at the franchise history gives the most reliable context:

    FilmYearEstimated BudgetWorldwide Gross
    Evil Dead (2013)2013~$17 million~$97 million
    Evil Dead Rise2023~$15 million~$146 million
    Evil Dead Burn2026Estimated $20–30 millionTBD

Evil Dead Rise made nearly ten times its budget worldwide — a return that would make most studio executives very happy indeed. Burn appears to be a similarly sized production, possibly with a slightly larger budget given the co-financing arrangement between New Line Cinema and Sony Pictures, the New Zealand location shoot over nearly three months, and the involvement of a cinematographer (Philip Lozano) with growing industry credibility.

A $20 to $30 million estimate feels reasonable for a production of this scope, ambition, and franchise pedigree — though the actual figure could sit on either side of that range.

Evil Dead Burn Cast Salary: What Everyone Has Likely Earned

The Evil Dead Burn cast is not built around Hollywood superstars, which is both a creative and a financial choice. Horror films in this franchise have always prioritised character depth and ensemble dynamics over marquee names.

    ActorCharacterEstimated Salary
    Souheila YacoubAlice (lead)$500K–$1 million
    Tandi WrightSusan$200K–$500K
    Hunter DoohanJoseph$200K–$500K
    Luciane BuchananThya$150K–$400K
    Erroll ShandEdgar$100K–$300K
    Maude DaveyPolly$100K–$300K
    Alain ChabatAlice’s dad$200K–$400K

These are educated estimates based on comparable horror productions, the actors’ career stages, and standard mid-budget film salary structures. None of the principal cast members are at a point in their careers where they command the kind of fees that significantly inflate a production budget.

Souheila Yacoub is the lead and the most prominent name in the cast. A French-Algerian actress best known in European cinema and her work in Holy Spider and Apaches, she represents exactly the kind of international casting that gives horror franchises cultural credibility while keeping costs manageable. Being the lead of a Sam Raimi-produced Evil Dead film is a significant career moment, and her fee reflects that stage of her trajectory — substantial but not yet A-list Hollywood pricing.

Hunter Doohan, known to Netflix audiences from Wednesday, brings recognisable streaming visibility that helps market the film to younger audiences. His fee would sit in the mid-range of the ensemble given his growing profile.

Luciane Buchanan and Tandi Wright both come from New Zealand, which aligns with the production’s filming location — local talent brings authentic casting alongside practical production advantages.

Alain Chabat, the veteran French comedian and filmmaker, is probably the most unexpected name in the cast and likely commands a modest but respectable fee given his standing in French cinema.

    The Production Team Behind It

The real financial weight in Evil Dead Burn is not in the cast fees — it is in the names attached above the line as producers and creatives.

Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert produce through their Ghost House Pictures banner. Bruce Campbell, the franchise’s most beloved face, serves as executive producer. Lee Cronin, who directed Evil Dead Rise, also serves as executive producer.

Raimi’s decision to hire Vaniček came from watching Infested — Vaniček’s debut feature about a spider infestation in a Paris apartment block, which became one of the more talked-about horror films of 2023. Raimi reportedly saw the film and reached out. The hiring pattern mirrors how Fede Álvarez was brought in for the 2013 Evil Dead reboot — Raimi finding young directors who understand physical, visceral horror and trusting them with the franchise.

Director Vaniček co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard, his collaborator from Infested. The director’s fee on a mid-budget horror of this kind would typically sit between $500,000 and $2 million depending on backend arrangements and the creative team’s negotiating position.

The Premise and What It Promises

The story follows a family gathering at a secluded house after the death of a child. What begins as a grief-stricken reunion becomes something considerably worse as family members begin turning into Deadites — the franchise’s possessed, grotesque antagonists that have been terrifying audiences since 1981.

The secluded house setting, the family-in-grief premise, and the slow contamination of a gathering by supernatural possession are all classic Evil Dead territory. Vaniček’s background in contained, claustrophobic horror makes him an intuitive fit for exactly this kind of story.

With Evil Dead Wrath already in production in New Zealand for a 2028 release, the franchise clearly has long-term plans that Burn‘s box office performance will directly influence.

Evil Dead Burn arrives in US cinemas on July 10, 2026.
