Udta Teer Monday Test: How Did It Do?
Udta Teer dropped about 62% from Sunday to Monday. That is a sharp fall, but it is in line with the trend at the box office this week. Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, the biggest film in theatres right now, saw a similar drop on Monday, while other new releases like Prahaar fell even more.
The Monday figure of Rs 3.15 crore is also lower than the film’s opening day of Rs 4.10 crore, but not by much. For a mid-budget film, holding above Rs 3 crore on the first working day is a fair result. Around 1.71 lakh people watched the film on Monday, taking its total footfalls past 10.4 lakh.
Udta Teer Occupancy on Day 4
The film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 16.25% on Monday. Night shows did best at 20.62%, followed by afternoon shows at 18.15%. Morning shows were weak at 6.69%.
Among cities, Bengaluru led with 21.8% occupancy across 147 shows, followed by Mumbai at 16% and Lucknow and Kolkata at 15% each. NCR, which had the most shows at 1,024, recorded 13.3%. Ahmedabad and Surat were the weakest markets.
I saw the weekday slowdown for myself when I went to watch Udta Teer. There were exactly two seats booked in the entire hall, and one of them was mine. It felt less like a movie show and more like a private screening that nobody had paid extra for.
Udta Teer Worldwide Box Office Collection
| India gross (4 days) | Rs 27.12 crore |
| Overseas gross (4 days) | Rs 6.75 crore |
| Worldwide gross (4 days) | Rs 33.87 crore |
Overseas markets have been a steady support, adding Rs 1 crore on Monday alone. With Tuesday’s numbers, Udta Teer’s worldwide total is expected to move close to Rs 37 crore gross.
Udta Teer vs Other Films at the Box Office
Udta Teer remains the top new Hindi release in theatres. Jailer 2 has crossed Rs 400 crore net in India and Rs 710 crore worldwide, and still takes a large share of screens. Among smaller films, Prahaar has collected around Rs 20 crore net and Nayyi Navelli about Rs 25 crore net, both with much lower daily numbers than Udta Teer.
What Next for Udta Teer
If Udta Teer holds between Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 3 crore a day till Thursday, its first week total could land at around Rs 30 crore to Rs 31 crore net in India. Advance bookings for Wednesday have already crossed Rs 1.66 crore gross, which suggests a stable run through the week. The second weekend will decide whether the film can push towards the Rs 50 crore mark.
