The Vvaan Trailer Is Out, and a Cursed Forest Is at the Centre of It All

There’s a certain kind of trailer that makes you sit up simply because it doesn’t quite fit any single genre box, and that’s exactly what The Vvaan delivers. The official trailer for Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s fantasy comedy dropped this week, and it wastes no time establishing a world where ancient belief and modern skepticism are about to collide, loudly.

    What The Vvaan Trailer Reveals

“It’s against Vvaan Devi’s rules. Entering the forest after sunset is prohibited,” one character warns early in the trailer, immediately setting up the central conflict of the film. But Sidharth Malhotra’s character doesn’t buy it, responding that true faith gives strength, not fear, a dismissal that pretty much guarantees he’ll end up proving himself wrong by the film’s end.

The 144-second trailer spends its opening stretch building up the mythology around the bhuttakas, dark forces said to inhabit the forest, described as darker than the night, swifter than the storm, and even beyond the goddess’s own control. It’s a genuinely eerie setup, and Sidharth’s character dismisses all of it outright as, in his words, utter rubbish.

The story kicks off in Mumbai, where Sidharth and Tamannaah play a married couple heading back to her native village for Chhath Puja. Sidharth is visibly reluctant about visiting what he considers a cursed place, but Tamannaah believes the goddess herself is inviting them there, and eventually, none of his excuses hold up.

He ends up in the village anyway, face to face with generations-old superstitions and traditions that are clearly about to test everything he believes. “When faith is challenged, a legend awakens,” the trailer states, hinting that Sidharth’s character gets pulled far deeper into this mystical world than he ever expected, despite his initial resistance.

    The Mysterious Warrior

Toward the end, the trailer teases a veiled, ageless warrior figure without ever showing his face clearly. A woman’s voice calls out to him, saying, “Veer, whenever these mystical powers become a threat to humanity, you must come back, no matter which era it is.” It’s a deliberately mysterious beat, and one that strongly suggests Sidharth’s character and this ancient warrior legend are connected in ways the film hasn’t fully revealed yet.

For a deeper dive into the film’s full plot, cast and everything else worth knowing before it releases, this complete breakdown of The Vvaan’s release date, cast, crew and story covers it all in one place.

What This Means for Sidharth and Tamannaah

Directed by Panchayat creator Deepak Kumar Mishra, The Vvaan marks a genuine shift for Sidharth Malhotra, pushing him into full folk-action-drama territory. It’s also his return to the action space following 2024’s Yodha, after most recently appearing in the romantic comedy Param Sundari alongside Janhvi Kapoor. For Tamannaah Bhatia, this follows her 2025 Telugu supernatural feature Odela 2, and she already has another project lined up with Ajay Devgn releasing next year.

The film also features Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari, Maniesh Paul and Anup Soni in key roles, with story and screenplay by Arunabh Kumar and dialogues by Anandeshwar Dwivedi. Music comes from Vishal Mishra, Amit Trivedi, Tanishk Bagchi and Sam CS, while Manu Anand handles cinematography and Nitin Baid edits.

    Worth the Watch?

Between the folklore-heavy setup, a genuinely intriguing mystery around the warrior figure, and two leads stepping into fairly unfamiliar territory for themselves, The Vvaan looks like it’s aiming to be a genuinely different kind of Bollywood release this September.

If you’re stacking up your watchlist for the weeks ahead, there’s more worth tracking too. The Shaque trailer and the Hunkkaar trailer are both generating buzz around the same window, giving audiences a genuinely varied lineup to pick from this month.

The Vvaan: Force of the Forest releases in theatres worldwide on September 25, 2026.
