Kerala: A Big Market for Scene
Kerala is one of the most important markets for Scene, as director Jithu Madhavan’s Romancham and Aavesham were huge hits there, and the cast includes Malayalam stars Nazriya Nazim, Naslen and Lal. The film has released on around 550 screens in Kerala, and trade estimates suggest a Day 1 Kerala gross of Rs 5 crore to Rs 7 crore, which could be Suriya’s biggest-ever opening in the state.
Scene Day 1 Prediction: How Big Will the Opening Be?
Based on advance booking and early trends, trade estimates suggest Scene could gross Rs 22 crore to Rs 30 crore in India on Day 1. With overseas premieres and opening day shows expected to add around $1.5 million (about Rs 14 crore), the worldwide Day 1 gross could land between Rs 36 crore and Rs 44 crore.
If the film crosses Rs 32 crore worldwide, it will beat the Day 1 numbers of Suriya’s recent releases, Vishwanath and Sons (Rs 31.74 crore) and Karuppu (Rs 28.93 crore).
Scene Overseas Box Office
Scene has had a solid start in North America, where its premiere shows had sold 7,842 tickets worth $120,788 across 651 shows before release. The North America premiere and opening day total is expected to be between $450,000 and $550,000. The final overseas Day 1 number will be updated once it is out.
Scene vs Ramayana and Mookuthi Amman 2
Scene faces tough competition this Diwali week. Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman 2, directed by Sundar C, has released on the same day in Tamil. Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana: Part 1, which opened a day earlier with Rs 64.85 crore net in India, is also running in Tamil Nadu, though its shows in the state have come down from 992 on Day 1 to 744 on Day 2.
