Rishab Shetty’s period action thriller “Kantara: Chapter 1” is performing brilliantly at the box office. The film, which serves as a prequel to the 2022 surprise hit “Kantara”, has already surpassed the lifetime collection of the first part. It has truly established itself as a pan-India blockbuster, with the dubbed Hindi version earning even more than the original Kannada version.
On its seventh day, Wednesday, Kantara: Chapter 1 collected ₹25 crore across all languages in India. Although this was its lowest single-day earning so far, it was still enough to help the film reach a major milestone. On the sixth day (Tuesday), the film earned ₹34.25 crore, and on the fifth day (Monday), ₹31.50 crore.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film opened with a massive ₹61.85 crore on Thursday. By the end of its first week, Kantara: Chapter 1 had earned a total of ₹316 crore at the domestic box office. This not only crossed the ₹300 crore mark but also surpassed the lifetime domestic earnings of the first Kantara, which stood at ₹309.64 crore.

The first film was initially released only in Kannada. However, due to its overwhelming success and growing demand across the country, it was later dubbed and released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam—two weeks after the original release.
“Kantara: Chapter 1” was planned and marketed as a pan-India film right from the beginning, and this strategy proved highly effective. This time, the Hindi dubbed version outperformed the original Kannada version. By the end of the first week, the Hindi version had crossed the ₹100 crore mark, currently standing at ₹102 crore.
The Kannada version follows closely behind with ₹98.85 crore and is expected to cross ₹100 crore soon. Among the other language versions, the Telugu version earned ₹60.90 crore, Tamil ₹29.40 crore, and Malayalam ₹24.85 crore.
