New Food Court Opens at India Gate: Taste Dishes from 10 States, Starting at Just ₹60

Recently, there was news that picnics have now been banned at India Gate. This means you can no longer enjoy a picnic inside, nor are you allowed to carry bags and other items with you. If you do bring something, one of your companions will have to wait outside with the bags, as there are no locker facilities available nearby at the moment.

However, there is a new facility that is attracting a lot of attention – a brand-new food court near India Gate. This food court has been divided into two sections – one for South Indian cuisine and the other for North Indian. Here, you will find outlets from not just one or two, but 10 different states. If you were used to just munching on chips during your India Gate visit, now there is a much better option. Let’s find out more about this new food court where you can try so many varieties of food.

    Why is India Gate famous?

India Gate has always been one of the favourite spots for people in Delhi as well as tourists visiting the city. This memorial was built in honour of 70,000 Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives fighting for the British Army during World War I. Just one glimpse of this iconic structure fills your heart with patriotism.

A new food court has opened here

To make the India Gate experience even more attractive, a new food court has been introduced. This food court has been developed through an underpass. Visitors can walk through the underpass and reach a clean and well-organised eating area. The court is divided into two sections – North Indian and South Indian – and serves popular dishes from different Indian states at affordable prices.

    Food stalls from 10 states

Once you reach the food court, you’ll see an open space with tables and umbrellas. Around this area are stalls serving food from different parts of India. Some of the highlights include:

    • Telangana Tourism’s Hyderabadi stall
    • Kerala Government’s Café Kudumbashree
    • Roots from the hills of Arunachal Pradesh
    • Assam food counter
    • Rajasthani food counter
    • Sikkim food court
    • Aharika food court serving Bihari dishes
    • Meghalaya Collectives Café
    • Tamil Nadu food court
    • MTDC food stall from Maharashtra

    Prices and timings

According to information available online, the food here is reasonably priced, starting at ₹60 and going up to around ₹100. The stalls usually open from 10 AM and are supposed to stay open till 10 PM. However, visitors say that by 6 PM, the food court may close because police stop access to the underpass after evening hours. So, if you plan to visit, it’s best to go early and enjoy the experience yourself.
