The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, starting from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Maharashtra, will travel at a top speed of 320 km/h, connecting key cities like Mumbai, Vapi, Surat, Anand, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad. The total cost of the project is Rs 1,08,000 crore, with 81% of the funding coming from the Government of Japan through JICA. Here are the key details:
Stoppages The high-speed train will have stops at 10 cities: Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, and Ahmedabad. It will terminate at Sabarmati. The entire journey will take just over 2 hours, with limited stops at Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, significantly reducing travel time compared to conventional trains or road travel.
Bullet Train Stations The new stations will be designed for long travel times, offering amenities such as restrooms, nurseries for children, locker facilities for baggage, and business lounges for first-class passengers. The stations will also feature inclusive designs for differently-abled passengers, including wheelchair accessibility, braille signage, lowered ticket counters, and dedicated washrooms.

Safety Features The bullet train will be equipped with 28 seismometers to ensure passenger and infrastructure safety during earthquakes. Using Japanese Shinkansen technology, the train will detect earthquake-induced tremors and automatically shut down power. Additionally, an automated Rainfall Monitoring System will provide real-time data on rainfall to ensure safe operations during heavy rain.
