One of the infamous companies Instagram recently has now launched a ‘Parents Guide’ in the latest of its 2021 updates.

It has been rolled out to protect youngsters using the platform and keeping them safe. The ultimate aim is to educate parents all about the safety features that the platform possesses.

The Public Policy & Community Outreach Manager, Instagram (India), Tara Bedi has given her statement regarding this launch as well,

“As the internet permeates into our lives, especially in the lives of young people, parents want to be adequately equipped with the evolving digital landscape.”

She added in the same,  “ They want to understand how a platform works and feel comfortable with their children leveraging its opportunities for creative expression while knowing the safety tools available to them that enable that expression in a supportive environment.”

This parent guide is a new resource from Instagram to help provide parents with a better and thorough understanding of the platform. It will be available across many countries when it launches soon.

This feature will be introduced in the latest update of the app and act as a tool for parents to initiate conversations with their children after learning about the various tools to keep their kids safe.

This will be rolled ahead of “Safer Internet Day” which is observed on February 9.

Foundations who work on protecting the rights of children and promoting their safety have also given their inputs in the development of this update.

Some of the organisations involved are Cyber Peace Foundation, Suicide Prevention India Foundation, Aarambh India Initiative and many more.

Some of the features seen in this update will be “Support Requests”, “Emails from Instagram” and “DM Reachability Controls”.

All these features can now be controlled by the parents of teenagers using the popular photo-sharing service.Instagram Will Soon Launch ‘Vertical Stories’ Feature: Work in Process
