WhatsApp is testing a new feature that simplifies resharing status updates on user profiles with a dedicated button. This feature, found in the latest WhatsApp beta version 2.24.16.4 for Android by WABetaInfo, will benefit users keen on resharing status updates. Instagram, another Meta platform, has had a similar feature for years.
Currently in development, the feature adds a quick shortcut button to reshare status updates, allowing users to reshare them as is or customize them with emojis or by resizing the post. It remains unclear if WhatsApp will notify users when their status is reshared.
At present, users must take a screenshot and re-upload it to WhatsApp to reshare a status update, a process that is not feasible for videos or GIFs. The upcoming feature will streamline this by providing a direct option to share status updates easily.

WhatsApp is also testing several new features for Android and iOS users, including the ability for iPhone users to choose between the smaller Meta AI model (70B) and the larger model (405B).
In a recent update, WhatsApp introduced several new generative AI experiences powered by its latest large language model, Llama 3.1. These include editing images by removing subjects or replacing backgrounds, generating personal avatars, faster image generation, and previews during image generation.
