This Affordable Car Wins World Electric Vehicle Award; Beats Expensive Models from Kia and Porsche

The World Car Awards have announced the top three finalists across all categories, including the prestigious World Car of the Year Award. Along with this, the top three cars in other categories have also been selected. Here, we bring you the 2025 World Electric Vehicle of the Year finalists.

The three cars that made it to the list are:

  1. Hyundai Inster / Casper Electric
  2. Kia EV3
  3. Porsche Macan Electric

However, leading the list is the Hyundai Inster / Casper Electric, which has outperformed its competitors.

Hyundai Inster Electric: Features and Specifications

One of the standout aspects of this electric car is its compact dimensions combined with SUV-like styling. The Inster Cross features a wide, rectangular front and rear bumper, along with pronounced black cladding, giving it a rugged look. The 17-inch alloy wheels, along with front and rear skid plates, provide better protection when driving on rough terrains.

Performance

  • Equipped with a 49kWh battery, the Inster powers an electric motor producing 115bhp and 147Nm of torque.
  • Hyundai claims it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.6 seconds.
  • The car has a top speed of approximately 150 km/h.
  • On a full charge, it offers a driving range of about 360 km.

The ADAS package in the Hyundai Inster includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and avoidance assist.

Interior

The interior of the Hyundai Inster Cross EV features a new color and trim combination, with grey cloth and lime-yellow accents. The dashboard also includes lime-yellow highlights for a more premium feel. Like the base model, the Inster Cross is equipped with high-end features that are typically found in higher-segment vehicles.

The 49kWh battery variant of the Hyundai Inster Cross comes with an on-road price of £28,745 (approximately ₹30.53 lakh).
