Salt Side Effects: Beware If You Eat Too Much Salt, It Can Increase Blood Pressure and Cause Skin Problems

If you eat too much salt, be careful, as it can cause serious skin damage. A recent study has revealed that consuming too much salt can increase skin inflammation. Not only that, but it can also cause various skin issues. Excessive salt intake can lead to several diseases.

The study indicates that eating too much salt increases the risk of eczema. This can lead to skin inflammation, dryness, and itching. The research found that fast food consumption increases the risk of eczema among young people.

Side Effects of Eating Too Much Salt

The study states that consuming one gram of extra sodium daily can increase the risk of eczema by 22%. The United Kingdom’s National Health Service recommends consuming 2.3 grams of sodium per day. However, the WHO advises consuming less than two grams of salt daily.

The study suggests that high salt levels can alter the skin’s immune response. Salt increases the production of cytokines, proteins that signal the immune system to start an adverse reaction. For eczema sufferers, an increased immune response can worsen the condition.
