After an exceptional theatrical run, Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and directed by Sukumar, is gearing up for its digital release. The extended version, which premiered in cinemas on January 17, will be available for streaming on Netflix starting January 30. This version will be accessible in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, while the Hindi version will not be included on the platform.
Netflix made the announcement on X, posting a “coming soon” poster with the caption: “The man. The myth. The brAAnd. Pushpa’s rule is about to begin! Watch Pushpa 2 – Reloaded Version with 23 minutes of extra footage on Netflix, coming soon in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam & Kannada!” Although Netflix has not officially confirmed the release date, its New and Hot section lists January 30 as the expected premiere.
This extended edition increases the film’s runtime from 3 hours and 20 minutes to 3 hours and 44 minutes, adding 23 minutes of new footage. The additional scenes address earlier criticisms about character depth, offering more insight into Pushpa’s journey and strengthening the overall narrative.
The movie concludes with a suspenseful cliffhanger, setting the stage for the next installment, Pushpa 3: The Rampage. Reports indicate that director Sukumar has already started working on the script, promising another high-intensity chapter in the franchise.
Released in theatres on December 5, 2024, Pushpa 2: The Rule achieved a record-breaking global collection of over ₹1800 crore, surpassing Baahubali 2: The Conclusion to become the highest-grossing Indian film ever. The movie features an ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, and Sunil in key roles.
