Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off the first Vande Metro train of Indian Railways on September 16, 2024. This inaugural Vande Metro service will operate between Bhuj and Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

The Vande Metro, designed for short-distance inter-city travel, is built on the Vande Bharat Express platform. It features a self-propelled train set with a top speed of 130 km/h, designed for unreserved travel. Unlike the Vande Bharat, the Vande Metro’s design caters specifically to shorter journeys.
