Now Update Your Name, Address, and Mobile Number on e-Aadhaar App from Home in Just Minutes; Know How

UIDAI is soon launching its new e-Aadhaar mobile app, through which you can update your name, address, phone number, and date of birth directly from your smartphone. Now, there will be no need to visit Aadhaar centres for updates. This change will be a big relief especially for users living in rural areas.

The most unique feature of this app is its use of Face ID, AI verification, and QR-code-based digital identity system, which makes the process faster, reliable, and more modern. According to the CEO of UIDAI, the app will make Aadhaar services more accessible and reduce the chances of fraud.

    Key Highlights of the App:

    • QR-code based identity: Share your digital or masked Aadhaar directly, removing the need for photocopies.
    • Face login: Instead of password or OTP, you can log in using your face for faster and safer access.
    • Easy updates: Name, address, date of birth, and mobile number can be updated with just a few taps, no more forms or paperwork.

From November 2025, only biometric updates (fingerprint or iris scan) will require a visit to Aadhaar centres. All other updates can be done digitally through the app. Users will just need a simple OTP (One-Time Password) to update their Aadhaar details from home. This will especially help people with busy schedules who cannot visit centres.

The new system will also benefit those in rural areas where Aadhaar centres are difficult to access. Additionally, going digital will minimise the risk of fraud.

Currently, any Aadhaar update—whether name, address, date of birth, or mobile number—requires a mandatory visit to an Aadhaar centre. But with the new app, regular updates like address or phone number changes can be done at home, saving time and avoiding repeated visits to centres.
