Napoleon is an upcoming grand-scale historical drama movie helmed and produced by Ridley Scott, with the screenplay penned by David Scarpa. The film draws inspiration from the real-life tale of Napoleon Bonaparte, focusing primarily on his ascent to power and his intricate connection with Empress Joséphine. Taking on the lead roles are Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon and Vanessa Kirby as Joséphine, with Tahar Rahim in a supporting position. Additionally, Joaquin Phoenix is involved as one of the film’s producers.
Napoleon Movie Budget
Napoleon is estimated to be made on a budget of around US $130 million. Production for Napoleon commenced in February 2022. Unlike the previous film “Waterloo” (1970), which focused on a single battle, Napoleon will showcase six major battle sequences. During production, the movie was temporarily titled “Marengo,” referencing the Battle of Marengo in 1800. Filming took place in various locations, including Lincoln, England, where Lincoln Cathedral was prepared to resemble Notre-Dame de Paris. Shooting in the cathedral occurred on March 17 and 18, from 7 am to 7 pm.

Other filming locations included Stowe Avenue and House in Buckinghamshire, Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, West Wycombe Park in Buckinghamshire, Petworth House in Sussex, and Boughton House in Kettering, England. The production was also scheduled to shoot in Malta, specifically at Fort Ricasoli in Kalkara, to depict the site of the 1793 siege of Toulon, where Napoleon achieved his first victory.
Napoleon Box Office Collection Prediction
Napoleon is expected to earn around US $500 million at the box office. The big budget historical dramas often do good at the box office and the same can be true about this film as well. Napoleon will release in the theatres on 22nd November 2023 in USA and UK. The film’s release date for India is yet to be confirmed.
