My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 Review: Growing Up Is Messier Than Falling in Love

Netflix's cozy romance series moves past its central love triangle and lets Cole, Jackie, and Alex chase their own dreams, even as too many subplots crowd the story.

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 Review: Growing Up Is Messier Than Falling in Love

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 Review: ★★★½☆ (3.5/5)

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 wisely shifts focus away from its love triangle toward personal growth, but it stumbles under the weight of too many competing subplots. It remains an addictive guilty pleasure even with its flaws.

    Rating: ★★★½☆ (3.5/5)
    Platform: Netflix
    Genre: Romance, Drama
    Episodes: 10
Cast: Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, Sarah Rafferty

My Life with the Walter Boys has built its fanbase on cozy small-town romance, messy family dynamics, and a love triangle that has kept viewers hooked since the show first premiered in 2023.

Season 3 arrives with the difficult task of following up one of the most dramatic finales the series has ever delivered, and for the most part, it handles that challenge well by finally letting its characters grow beyond their romantic entanglements.

The new season picks up right where things left off. Jackie and Cole have confessed their feelings for each other, Alex has overheard everything, and George, the Walter family patriarch, is dealing with a serious health scare after his accident. These two events completely reshape the direction of the season.

For the first time in the show’s run, the love triangle between Cole, Alex, and Jackie is not the main focus, and the series is genuinely better for that choice. Instead, the story gives each of these characters room to figure out who they want to become outside of their feelings for one another.

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 Review

Cole, unable to play football anymore because of his knee injury, throws himself into the world of drag racing, which fits his risk-taking personality even if the storyline itself is not the strongest on paper. Alex continues chasing his rodeo dreams while dealing with unexpected feelings that surprise even him.

Jackie, meanwhile, gets swept up in a community project in Silver Falls, though her progress is interrupted when a familiar face from her past in New York shows up and complicates everything all over again. Watching these three finally develop identities beyond the triangle gives the season a freshness that the earlier seasons sometimes lacked.

The chemistry between Nikki Rodriguez and Noah LaLonde as Jackie and Cole remains one of the show’s biggest strengths, and their scenes together continue to carry real emotional weight.

Ashby Gentry also shines as Alex, especially in his complicated friendship with Kiley, played by Mya Lowe, which gets tested in interesting ways this season.

Sarah Rafferty continues to be a standout as Katherine Walter, bringing warmth and steady wisdom to a household that feels like it is constantly on the verge of falling apart.

Season 3 also introduces some new characters who shake things up. Mac, a drag racer played by Chad Rook, ends up steering Cole toward his new racing storyline. Hannah, George’s sister, arrives unexpectedly and brings real emotional tension for her sons Isaac and Lee, giving both characters a more meaningful role this season.

The biggest new addition, though, is Eliot, an old friend of Jackie’s who becomes an intern at Uncle Richard’s office. His arrival sets up a new romantic complication for Jackie, moving Alex out of the picture and asking her to rethink what she actually wants from her future.

Not everything works perfectly. The season juggles a lot of subplots at once, from Danny and Erin’s new romance to Kiley and Dylan’s relationship to Isaac and Lee’s complicated history with their mother.

With so many storylines competing for attention, it becomes hard to fully invest in all of them, and some dialogue this season feels noticeably weaker than in previous seasons. George’s health crisis remains one of the few threads that consistently pulls the whole family together in a meaningful way.

Even with its overcrowded plot, the show keeps its addictive, bingeable charm intact. The tight ten-episode format helps keep the pacing brisk, and the emotional stakes still land where they need to.

By the finale, most of the season’s big questions get answered, setting up an already confirmed fourth season with a satisfying cliffhanger.

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 may be messy and overstuffed at times, but it remains an easy show to fall for. It knows exactly what its audience wants, and it delivers just enough heart and drama to make it worth the watch.
