    Game of Thrones

OTT platforms release new movies and web series every month, and while some go unnoticed, others become massive hits, watched and rewatched by fans. Today, we’re talking about one such web series that had an enormous budget, making it the most expensive series ever made for OTT. Despite being released years ago, it still trends online and is loved by viewers worldwide.

    A Spectacular 8-Season Series

We’re referring to a famous American fantasy drama series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. The show is based on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. Various directors like Tim Van Patten, Alan Taylor, and Miguel Sapochnik (famous for directing the “Battle of the Bastards” episode) worked on different episodes. The series was shot across multiple countries including Ireland, Croatia, and Spain. Its stunning locations, grand sets, and incredible visual effects turned it into a landmark production.

    Powerful Star Cast

The series we’re talking about is Game of Thrones. It featured a massive ensemble of well-known and emerging actors. Among them, Peter Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister, stood out the most and even won four Emmy Awards. Other major cast members include Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys), Lena Headey (Cersei), and Sophie Turner (Sansa). Each actor delivered powerful performances, making their characters unforgettable. A unique feature of the show was how it portrayed both good and evil within every character.

    Story and Theme

The story is set in the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, where powerful families battle for control over the Iron Throne. The main focus revolves around political intrigue, Daenerys’s journey to reclaim her birthright, and the looming danger from the icy threats in the North. The series masterfully portrays politics, betrayal, war, and the thirst for power. Iconic moments like Ned Stark’s death and the Red Wedding shocked audiences and kept them hooked. Across its 8 seasons, the story remained gripping and unpredictable.

    Seasons, Budget, Ratings & Streaming

The first season had 10 episodes and cost around ₹498 crore, with each episode costing about $5–6 million. From seasons 2 to 6, 50 episodes were made with an average budget of $9 million per episode, bringing the cost to around ₹3,735 crore. Seasons 7 and 8 had a total of 13 episodes, with a combined cost of ₹1,618 crore. Overall, the total production cost reached approximately ₹5,851 crore. The series has an IMDb rating of 9/10 and is available to stream in Hindi on JioCinema.
