    Blood sugar levels keep on rising and lowering causing huge distress in the life of a diabetic person. And the main reason this happens is based on what kind of food they are consuming.



    We often hear a diabetic person complaining of not being able to have what they want in their diet. Or taking too much medication in order to enjoy a small serving of something they wanted to eat.

    Now, along with the medication, there are other factors that can be taken care of as well. These factors will surely improve your blood sugar and maybe you can gulp in a bite or two of your favorite dish without remorse then.

    But before that, let us tell you an important food fact. There is something called glycemic index which measures the carbohydrate content of the food. In the case of a diabetic person, foods having a low glycemic index are preferable.

    Nuts

    Nuts are good for health whether taken by a diabetic or non-diabetic person, it’ll add something to your nutrient count only. Now it’s a rich source of fiber, proteins, unsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants, and many other things as well.

    The Glycemic index of of almost all the nuts is on the lower side and is below the range of 50, which is what makes it a good source of nutrients for a diabetic person.

    Whole Grain

    They can help you maintain a good blood sugar level, which is a necessity for diabetic patients. Now, they are a rich source of fiber, nutrients, and phytochemicals, as well.

    The glycemic index is on the higher side as compared to nuts but still remains in the range of under 50. Which is why a diabetic person should consume whole grains.

    Yogurt

    Yogurt is a source of good bacteria and its recommended that everyone should have it. They are good for the gut and make the digestion process easier.

    They hit a score of less than 50 on the glycemic index. Especially the unsweetened yogurt is something, a diabetic person should go for.



    Garlic

    Garlic is the secret ingredient that goes into the magic potion made for diabetic people. Now, what they do is, they help in removing sugar from the blood and improves secretion and sensitivity of insulin and

    Eggs

    We don’t need to preach on the health benefits of eggs, they are quite commonly known. They do make up for a high protein diet and on top of that, are way too easy to prepare as well.

    Now, the most important thing is that their glycemic index score is zero. This means if you don’t have eggs in your diet as a diabetic person, you’re missing out on so much nutrients.
