Huma Qureshi is stepping into territory she’s never explored before. Baby Do Die Do, a Hindi neo-noir crime comedy, is set to hit theatres on July 3, 2026. It marks something genuinely significant for Qureshi. This isn’t just another acting role. It’s also her debut as a producer, made alongside her brother Saqib Saleem.
What Is the Film About
Qureshi plays Baby KarMarkar, described by the makers as “India’s first desi hitwoman.”
Her character is a deaf and mute contract killer operating in Mumbai.
The story follows a string of mysterious murders linked to Baby, while investigators and media try to piece together who she really is.
It’s being positioned as a genre-blending film — part action, part dark comedy, part emotional drama.
The story idea comes from Jasmeet K Reen and Parveez Shaikh, with the screenplay co-written by Gaurav Sharma and director Nachiket Samant.
The Cast Behind the Mystery
Alongside Huma Qureshi, the film features a strong supporting cast:
- Sikandar Kher
- Chunky Pandey
- Seema Pahwa
- Vidya Malvade
- Himanshu Malik
The exact nature of each character’s role in the story hasn’t been fully revealed yet, which fits the marketing approach the team has taken.
A Marketing Campaign Built on Mystery
The makers haven’t gone the traditional Bollywood promotion route.
Instead, they’ve recreated mock crime scenes at malls and metro stations across five cities.
Think chalk-style body outlines and a striking red umbrella, a visual motif tied closely to the film’s narrative.
Director Nachiket Samant explained the thinking behind it simply. The moment people start wondering what happened, they’re already engaged.
The first poster reflects that same mood. It shows Qureshi walking through a rain-soaked railway station, her face obscured, carrying a red umbrella.
Behind the Camera
Nachiket Samant directs the film, and the production banner is Saleem Siblings — Qureshi and Saleem’s own production house, marking its first feature film.
Cinematography is handled by Tojo Xavier.
A Notable Box Office Clash
Baby Do Die Do’s July 3 release date has put it in interesting company.
Reports suggest Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s action thriller Alpha may also release on the very same date, after reportedly being moved up a week to avoid a later clash with another major release.
That would mean two female-led action thrillers — a hitwoman and an assassin — going head to head on opening weekend.
What We Don’t Know Yet
A few things worth being upfront about. The film’s actual production budget hasn’t been officially disclosed, and neither have individual cast salaries.
Any specific figures circulating online for either should be treated as unconfirmed speculation rather than verified fact, since none of the major entertainment outlets covering the film have published those numbers.

Why This Film Stands Out
Bollywood doesn’t often hand its female leads a role quite like this one.
A deaf-mute contract killer, told through a comic-book-inspired visual style, with dark humour woven through a genuinely strange premise — that’s a meaningfully different bet for a mainstream Hindi film.
For Qureshi, it’s also a personal milestone, stepping behind the scenes as a producer for the very first time alongside her brother.
Whether audiences respond to the tonal mix of satire, action, and emotional drama will likely decide how big a moment this becomes for both Qureshi’s acting career and her new production house.
Baby Do Die Do releases in theatres on July 3, 2026.
