Bappi Lahiri, an Indian music composer, noted for his funky dance melodies and eye-catching dress sense, passed away at 69.
The singer, known affectionately as Bappi da, was most known for reviving disco music in the Indian mainstream throughout the 1980s and 1990s. His funky, foot-stomping music introduced Indians to disco and had the entire country dancing to his melodies. He was dubbed “Disco King” for his films such as Disco Dancer, Namak Halaal, Dance Dance, and Commando.
