Early Life, Age, Family and Background
Deeya Yadav was born on 9 October 2009 in Gurugram, Haryana. Her parents are IT professionals, which meant that her early years were spent in different cities. She received her initial cricket training in Pune, where she developed a strong foundation in batting. After the COVID-19 pandemic, her family moved back to Haryana. It was here that Deeya’s game took a more aggressive turn, inspired largely by India opener Shafali Verma, whom she considers her role model.
Deeya Yadav’s Cricket Journey
Deeya first came into the limelight in 2023 during the Under-15 One Day Cup. She scored a remarkable 578 runs at an average of 96.33, which included three centuries and a stunning double hundred. Her best knock was 213 runs off just 125 balls against Tripura, a performance that firmly established her as a special talent.
Impressed by her consistency and fearless batting, Haryana selectors fast-tracked her into the senior team. In the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, Deeya scored 298 runs at a strike rate of 149.5. Journey with Delhi Capitals in the WPL
During the WPL 2026 mega auction held in November 2025, Delhi Capitals signed Deeya Yadav at her base price. She now shares the dressing room with some of the biggest names in women’s cricket, including Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Laura Wolvaardt.
The DC management highlighted her attacking intent and wide range of shots as major reasons for picking her. Ahead of a match against Mumbai Indians, Jemimah Rodrigues openly praised Deeya, saying that although she is just 16, she has the power and confidence to hit the ball out of the stadium.
Playing Style and Key Records
Deeya Yadav is a right-handed top-order batter known for her fearless approach. Because of her aggressive style, she is often compared to Shafali Verma and is sometimes called the “female Suryavanshi” or “mini Shafali.” She loves playing aerial shots straight down the ground and over mid-on and mid-off.
She is also inspired by MS Dhoni when it comes to handling pressure and staying calm in big moments. In the 2025–26 Senior Women’s T20 season, she scored around 300 runs with a strike rate of over 130, once again helping her team reach the zonal finals.
Future Growth
Deeya Yadav is still at a very early stage of her career, but her potential is enormous. Training and playing alongside players like Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues is helping her learn how to balance aggression with match awareness. Delhi Capitals scouts have praised her confident body language, positive intent, and hunger to perform at the highest level.
If she continues on this path, Deeya Yadav has all the qualities to become one of the next big stars of Indian women’s cricket and a regular name in the national setup in the years to come.
