Sant Premanand Maharaj from Mathura-Vrindavan, who often makes headlines for his spiritual discourses, has been criticized by Jagadguru Rambhadracharya, who issued a strong statement and challenge. Rambhadracharya said that if Premanand Maharaj can speak even a single word in Sanskrit or explain the meaning of Sanskrit shlokas he recites, it would prove his knowledge. It is worth noting that many well-known celebrities, including cricketer Virat Kohli, have visited Premanand Maharaj to seek his blessings.
In an interview with NDTV, Rambhadracharya expressed his views openly on various topics. During the conversation, he was asked about Premanand Maharaj, who is frequently discussed on social media for his simplicity and devotion. It is also known that Premanand Maharaj has been suffering from kidney failure for the past 19 years, yet he continues to perform the Vrindavan parikrama daily.
Rambhadracharya further remarked that, in earlier times, only scholars delivered spiritual discourses, but nowadays, ignorant people are spreading religious knowledge. When asked specifically about Premanand Maharaj, he said, “For me, he is like a child.” He then challenged him, saying: “If there is any real miracle, I challenge Premanand Ji to speak even a single word in Sanskrit in front of me or explain the meaning of the Sanskrit shlokas I recite.”

He clarified that he holds no personal grudge against Premanand Maharaj but stated that he does not consider him a scholar or a miraculous figure.
Rambhadracharya added, “A true miracle lies in the ability to engage in deep scriptural discussions and explain the meanings of Sanskrit shlokas accurately.” He described Premanand Maharaj’s popularity as short-lived, saying that while his devotional singing is good, calling it a “miracle” is unacceptable to him.
